+InsaneNutter MVC Posted October 25, 2009 MVC Share Posted October 25, 2009 I have ordered some stuff from renchi.com which was shipped out from Hong Kong, I can?t get my head around the UPS tracking information though. According to the tracking details on the UPS website my package was dispatched from Hongkong and arrived at East Midlands Airport in the UK. This is what I don?t understand, the ups tracking information now says it went back to Hongkong, then on to Dubai and at the moment it?s in Cologne, Germany. It seems crazy to me it came halfway across the world to the UK, went back and now it?s in Germany... is this normal for packages sent via ups? kjordan2001
Pretty sure it didn't get to the UK, that's just the step where they submitted the paperwork/payment for clearance into the country. After it was accepted, it left Hong Kong. If you look at the times, it's going to be fairly impossible for it to go halfway across the world in that time. acnpt
That does look strange  It doesn't say anything about leaving East Midlands, or arriving back in Hong Kong. Were you expecting two parcels? as it maybe the second parcel, or perhaps the sender has re-used the label. I'd check it again, and call them tomorrow. That would make sense actually, I wasn?t aware paperwork or anything had to be submitted. Usually when I?ve purchased from abroad it?s been from ebay and has arrived though the post, never with a courier before. I did think the time was pretty quick for a parcel to get halfway across the world! That does look st:wacko:wacko: It doesn't say anything about leaving East Midlands, or arriving back in Hong Kong. Just the one parcel, your right though it never did leave East Midlands so it could be paper work or something that had to clear before it was sent out like kjordan2001 mentioned. Edit - yes that is a pre clearance, i work for dhl customs brokerage in canada and i do know that is pre clearance from seeing that on shipments i have received from ups. Ah that confirms then, t:Dnks :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/837912-confusing-ups-tracking-information/#findComment-591754440 Share on other sites
