The Big TNA Wrestling Thread

Except Vince and co. are setting up the biggest PPV of the year for themselves. Wrestling is optional for this week's shows in the end, since storyline plays a big part in several of the matches going down.

However it's not just this week's Raw which has this problem. The amount of 2-5 minute matches on Raw is ridiculous. Especially when you consider the amount of time they have on silly backstage skits with Hornswoggle/guest hosts.

But if you want wrestling, Smackdown is the one that people should watch.

always the smackdown mark ;)

Eric Young, Rob Van Dam, and Jeff Hardy defeat The Band in a Steel Cage Match when Eric Young pinned Sean Waltman after an elbow drop from the top of the cage. The finish of the match saw Hardy hit a Swanton followed by a Five Star Frog Splash from Van Dam and finished with the elbow drop from the top of the cage.

now, even that next weeks Impact is taped, I will probably watch it

I can't wait for a RVD Vs AJ Styles match. How awesome would that be?

Even RVD Vs AJ Styles Vs Jeff Hardy. Now that would be an awesome match. Yeah Jeff Hardy isn't exactly as skilled as RVD and Styles but get him for some big spots and he never disappoints.

Dixie Carter posted the following on Twitter: To maximize viewership, iMPACT! will air on Spike from 8-10pm ET on 4/5 as to not conflict w/NCAA Men's bball finals on CBS.

The Acorn Online (http://www.acorn-online.com/) interviewed Vince McMahon to discuss WresteMania. The piece also included McMahon discussing TNA, here is what he had to say?

"We're in different businesses. We're in the entertainment business and they're in the ?pro wrasslin' business. It's different markets. When they moved to Monday nights they threw the kitchen sink at us and only did a fraction of our audience. It doesn't speak well for the type of product they're trying to present with the tawdry, blood-soaked action. I don't think that's what the culture wants these days."

One often-overlooked factor in TNA's destiny to compete with rival promotion World Wrestling Entertainment are the added expenses entailed.

Since January, the company has ballooned its roster to over 70 performers with the notable additions of high priced stars such as Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Hardy and the former Mr. Kennedy. Furthermore, the company has added the costly expense of going live every other Monday night and promotion of said move (i.e. airing commercials during Monday Night RAW and running Billboards in Times Square). Other than slight bumps in house show attendance and merchandise sales, TNA has to little to show for its efforts. In fact, ratings are at its lowest levels in four years due to the move to Monday nights.

According to a backstage source, TNA is having bigger financial problems than most realize. One source said: "I'm worried about my friends who work for TNA because they have bigger financial problems than anyone knows".

It should be noted that TNA is far from going under. They are just spending a ton of money these days in hopes of increasing viewership.

^^ that just reeks of late WCW before they were "acquired" by WWE ^^

TNA is getting some positive press for having the first openly bisexual wrestler in a major US-based pro wrestling promotion. The website OutSports.com has an article up about Orlando Jordan and the antics he will be up to this Monday on iMPACT!. It makes note of the fact that "Orlando Jordan is the character ? and truly is bisexual, not just portraying a gay (or bi) character, as has been the norm in pro wrestling's past."

The article then goes on to describe Orlando's descent from the rafters of the Impact zone, wrapped in yellow police tape, and his crawling up the ramp to sit on a couch with a male and female and the bisexual pride flag behind them. As noted yesterday here on the website, you can click here to see images of his grand ring entrance and sitting on the couch with his real-life boyfriend who is also being used in the angle.

is she hinting he'll be back? in TNA no less to push Ric Flair around?

HBK will NEVER go to TNA. Period, end of story. lol

And she's saying that because she knows retiring in Pro Wrestling is like retiring in Politics, it comes and goes :)

I am pretty sure we were sure that Ric Flair would never go to TNA but there he did

Yeah but Ric Flair has jumped ship before, and he lives for the crowds and adrenaline etc. HBK would never betray VKM like that, not after everything they've been through over the many years now. Besides, HBK is still comparatively young (next to Flair) and if he really wanted to come back he could easily. Why would he go to TNA when he could headline WM or something with WWE?

Shawn has been with WWE most, if not all, of his career, so I doubt he would go to TNA. Ric Flair was with NWA, WCW, and WWE so I wasn't surprised to see him in TNA.

It looks like TNA stars Jeff Hardy and Shannon Moore are trying to get WWE superstar Matt Hardy to "cross the ilne" and jump ship from WWE to TNA after the two wrote "cryptic" messages on Twitter last night.

Shannon More wrote: "@MATTHARDBRAND time to jump ship brudda. Ship has set sail. Tell Ace you quit and be a Heavens Demon!!!"

Jeff Hardy then wrote the following: "Maybe my brother can join tha demons next time if he gets his **** together."

Presumably the "Ace" that Shannon was referring to is WWE's John "Johnny Ace" Laurinaitis.

As noted earlier, Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore and Gregory Helms attended last night's UFC Fight Night 21 live show from North Carolina.

According to a source, it has been confirmed that Christopher Daniels was released by TNA earlier this week and explains why he was able to make an appearance at Ring of Honor's "Big Bang" PPV last night. We're told Daniels was released from his TNA contract this past Wednesday.

Daniels was using his old "Fallen Angel" gimmick during his ROH appearance. He remains listed on the TNA website as of this writing.

According to Wrestlezone, F4WOnline.com has officially confirmed the story.

If it's true, ouch. I certainly hope WWE looks at Daniels as an option, as he's one of the best workers out there and can really make other (not so good) wrestlers look great in the ring. Certainly ROH will use Daniels like crazy.

Yeah with WWE's close tie with ROH I can see that happening.
