How old is your laptop/desktop?

Recommended Posts

My laptop (specs in sig) is just over a year old (August 2008), though I have plenty of machines that are older than that (including my servers, with my firewall being the newest one). Once I load 7 on my laptop though I'm sure it'll be better than it was the day I bought it (even though I wiped and reloaded with my own version of Vista).

Desktop (Dell Dimension 9200): ~2yrs 5mths old (21/7/2007)

Laptop (Asus M51SN): ~1yrs 3mths old (23/9/2008)

Both still running great :) (desktop had a few issues in the past but alright at the moment)

My ASUS laptop is from June 2007.

C2D T7500 @ 2.20ghz

4GB DD2 (Upgrade)

GeForce 8600mGS 256mb

320gb Seagate 7200.4 (Upgrade) SATA2

My desktop computer is quite old. I think it dates back to Christmas 2004 or 2005.

Athlon64 3000+ (s754 Newcastle)

Epox 8kda3i

GeForce 7600GS (added later, used to have a Radeon 9600 Pro)

2GB PC3200

60GB Samsung 5400RPM IDE (from previous computer)

120GB Seagate 7200RPM IDE (original to build)

250gb Seagate 7200RPM SATA1 (added later)

Out of 5 computers I have, 3 of them came used as it is, with W2K on them. All are now running XP Pro VERY efficiently!!

Heck my newest computer is 3 years old now. That came with Vista but was INSTANTLY downgraded to XP Pro.

I've had my HP TouchSmart tx2-1270US since September, and I'm loving it!

I did have to upgrade my main system extensively - my venerable DFI LanParty UT nF4 SLI-D motheboard died a silent but nonetheless horrible death last month, so I went with a combination of an MSI NF750-G55 motherboard with an AMD Athlon II X4 620 and 4GB of Patriot G-Series PC3-12800 RAM with my existing eVGA GeForce 9800GT

So, I'm usually upgrading every 2 to 3 years or so at this point.
