I got it secondhand from a friend of a friend in March 1999, my first Windows-based machine. Otherwise, the ages of other computers, all of them still running: - Sony Vaio RX755: 6 years 10 months. Manufactured summer of 2002, purchased on February 7, 2003. - Current desktop: 4 years. Purchased December 10, 2005. Since then just about everything except for the case and PSU have been replaced after the motherboard crapped out 2 years later. So my current desktop's median age is a bit under 2 years now. - Laptop: 2 years 10 months. Arrived from Dell on February 7-10, 2007. - HTPC: Almost exactly one year. Bought the parts and assembled it around this week last year. Still running perfectly. Kept it only for sentimental value, as it was my 1st computer. About two years ago, I stopped upgrading it as "upgrades" were becoming way to expensive.
