First off, chlorine dioxide is a relatively reactive radical. Without delving into the literature, I'll just give you a Lewis dot structure.

You might notice that there is a free electron in there. The molecule decays, causing single-electron oxidation when it comes into contact with something like a cell membrane protein. Alternatively, the radical can make its way into the nucleus and react with DNA. Chlorine dioxide is particularly useful as a biocidic agent because it kills cells and viruses.

Coincidentally, humans are made of cells, making us vulnerable to being oxidized to death as well. But I suppose with you whackjobs, if it is repeated enough times on the internets, it must be true. :rofl:
