r5a
Hi all, I have an RTM of Windows 7 x64 Build 6.1 7600 on an ASUS P5Q Pro (latest bios) and for some reason my USB Root Hub decided to literally **** the bed and stop working. I have no idea how to reinstall them, there is no Windows Repair on the CD anymore. I am not formatting my computer for this and I already tried the repair option in windows (which really only attempts to fix boot up issues) so pretty much my once loved cureall (xp cd > repair install method) is now non-existent and my Windows 7 cd is worthless. Moving on, how can I get these drivers installed so I can start using my USB again. I have the chipset installed so the host controller is okay, it's just the Microsoft Hub that's completely ****ed (see the screen shot attached). I have tried googling for hours and found nothing. Anyone got any ideas? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/892140-reinstalling-usb-root-hub/ Share on other sites
Jesse Carlton
I'd say ininstall all the usb host controllers and restart, see if windows reinstalls the root hubs when it reinstalls the controllers? #Michael
why not delete them from the device manager and let windows find the usb hub again and see if it will reinstall the correct drivers. Make sure it will search windows updates/search a cd. I would also make sure you have the most current drivers from the manufacture. +Thayios Subscriber² Posted April 13, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted April 13, 2010 Download the Chipset Driver from Intel in ZIP format, make a shortcut to the exe, and use the /overall switch (or /over all - not sure) at the end of the shortcut.
