It's not a conspiracy

Recommended Posts

I wanted to have a discussion on why the term conspiracy theory means almost the exact opposite of it's independent words' definitions.

A: Because English is funny that way.

Yay! Thread over.

I dont need to study engineering to know what a demolition sounds like, I stood and watched power stations being demolished

And its not a novel new version of physics etc... the buildings were damaged on one side, its the same rule that applies when chopping down a tree, you take a chunk out from the side pointing the direction you want it too fall

No, you do need to study engineering to know what a controlled demolition sounds like compared to an uncontrolled internal collapse.

And yes, you are spouting some novel drivel version of physics, you have absolutely no concept of building design or demolition.

Everything you're saying is some random opinion that is in no way grounded in truth, facts or most importantly engineering.

You are not qualified in any way, shape or form to authoritatively comment on this event.

Good day sir.

So what's this argument with the definition of the words individually mean?

Definition of conspiracy: a secret agreement between two or more people to carry out some harmful or illegal act

Definition of theory: a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world

According to the individual definitions, isn't the official story of 9/11 a conspiracy theory? How about bank robbers? Anyone here ever theorize that a group of bank robbers conspired to rob the bank? If so you are a conspiracy theorist (as long as there is no recording of the conspiring).

According to wikipedia: Conspiracy theory is a term that originally was a neutral descriptor for any claim. However, it has come almost exclusively to refer to any fringe theory which explains a historical or current event as the result of a secret plot by conspirators of almost superhuman power and cunning.

So, the definition has gone from a meaning that would describe the whole population and it now describes a very small segment of the population.

In 1984 you are right.

You don't use the words separately .. it's called the English language. Learn it.

Really? Please tell me you are not serious. :argh:

Because you've been inside a skyscraper while it was being destroyed by a controlled demolition so you'd know exactly what it'd sound like?

Also, what happened to all the explosives packed in the four building that didn't get hit? Nobody noticed?

Are you telling me you never use the word theory besides in the term conspiracy theory?

Name one example of a different phrase that has a completely opposite definition than the words that make it up. I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm just interested if there is anymore doublethink type phrases in the english language right now.

Really? Please tell me you are not serious. :argh:

The theory that Muslims conspired to hijack and crash planes into buildings isn't a conspiracy theory?!

Also, what happened to all the explosives packed in the four building that didn't get hit? Nobody noticed?

Who said there were explosives in "all four building" besides you?

Well the plane was going to hit something. And of course we all know that planes can't destroy buildings for whatever reason, maybe magic, so they had to have explosives packed in them.

I'm pretty sure the people you would refer to as conspiracy theorists think the pentagon was hit with a missile, not explosives.

I think you're looking for antagonistic phrases.

For example: "Take care of him", means either to help and nurture someone or kill them violently.

The theory that Muslims conspired to hijack and crash planes into buildings isn't a conspiracy theory?!

Not by the modern definition of conspiracy theory.

For example, if I said to you, 'you seem particularly gay this morning'. How would you take it? Did I compliment you? Did I insult you? Do you go with the early definition of gay being happy, the later definition of gay meaning homosexual or the recent definition of gay meaning stupid.

So, while both definitions of conspiracy theory are cromulent, most people will use the most recent.

'Road', what you're driving your car on.

'Work', where you're driving your car to.

'Road Work next 10 miles', why you're not getting to work on time.

English is funny that way.

Antagonistic isn't right. There the term can have dual meanings while what I'm talking about the term means the opposite of the words that make up the term.

I understand that definitions can change over time but that's not my point. My point is that conspiracy theory once defined almost the whole population but now it defines almost none of the population; in other words it has taken on a exactly opposite meaning. In my opinion we are now living in a mixture of Brave New World and 1984...

I don't agree with that one, the "road work" part is describing the people working ahead, not the driver.

This is purely intended as a neutral question towards those persons who refute the idea of Al-Qaeda hijacking four air planes;

What happened to Flight 93, the fourth aircraft that crashed in Pennsylvania?

well, in my humble opinion, it was an alien spacecraft with United Airlines livery.

/sarcasm

Why would it matter?

I'm sure it matters to the people who had friends and family on the flight.

Don't try that, we all know they are dead.

Well pardon me if I'm wrong, but wasn't United 93 also part of the 9/11 terrorist attack?

I'm saying why would it matter what happened to the plane. The people are obviously dead so why does it matter.

What do you want, names? Groups?

I personally believe zionism is to blame. NOT the juice, zionism is different! Even if the government wasn't directly behind the 9/11 attacks, they provoked it with their zionist agenda.

I'm not saying I think zionism is the ruling hand, is it just the most visible arm of the octopus.

Sorry buddy, that type of excuse won't do. Either you have a conspiracy theory and you also know what happened with this fourth plane that crashed in Pennsylvania or it's not a proper theory is it?

You can not pick and choose between things that don't make sense in your world and make out a theory from it.

So, in your opinion, what happened to Flight 93?

I don't like to speculate, which is why I leave that up to all the believers of the official conspiracy theory. I didn't ever want to prove a theory, just say that the official one is bull****. The ones out to prove their theory are the ones pushing the official story.

The official story is supported by cellphone calls and a flight recorder stating that the plane was rammed into the ground when the passengers attacked the hijackers. But since you don't believe the official story why don't you tell us what really happened?

The phrase I gave you before, "Take care of him" can mean to murder someone. In no way can you get the concept of killing someone using that phrase, since care means to help or nurture, yet it does mean the opposite of what it says.

Here's another one I found:

"Tell me about it"

'Oh, there go those truthers, spouting off nonsense again. Yeah, tell me about it.'

Tell - to express in words. Yet, I'm saying, I already know, you don't have to express it in words.

Basically, 'conspiracy theory' by most definitions is a shortened version of 'crackpot conspiracy theory with no basis in reality'.

And since you're trying to discredit the hundreds of experts who spent countless hours putting together what happened on 9/11 by deliberately misusing a modern English term is an exercise in puerility that I won't entertain any further.

Good day to you, sir.

Lolol, sorry I had to post in this thread again because of that.

So you don't like to speculate but yet you support the theory that the Government blew up the buildings. What is that theory based on? Speculation.

If you didn't want to speculate on what happened, you wouldn't have made this thread. But, yet, you did.

Goodbye now.
