The_Decryptor Veteran Posted August 18, 2010 Veteran Share Posted August 18, 2010 The way HTTP redirects were handled was changed in Firefox, extensions overriding the HTTP layer (NoScript/AdBlock Plus to name two) completely broke it after that happened. NoScript got fixed within a few hours, AdBlock Plus after about a week and a half. skyli
I'm not seeing any ugly in that picture. DirectWrite does have some bugs, but they're mainly with light text on a dark background. But it's blurryer than the normal (I think it's microsoft cleartype when directwrite is off). So it's clearer, sharper and better without directwrite. Lot of letters (for example "l") is sometimes a 2 pixel blurry line, ... But without directwrite, thins like this: http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/PsychedelicBrowsing/Default.html must use te CPU and has less score :/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/896934-meet-firefox-401/page/66/#findComment-593045102 Share on other sites
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted August 18, 2010 Veteran Share Posted August 18, 2010 Oh, yeah that's on purpose (The old rendering was a limitation of the design, it wasn't on purpose). And DirectWrite and Direct2D are two different things, you can have Direct2D and normal GDI rendering but it'd be the slowest option avaliable. Brandon H Supervisor Posted August 19, 2010 Supervisor Share Posted August 19, 2010 nightly just updated to 4.0b5pre directwrite is turned on by default again, still causes issues for me with flash items, how do you turn it off? arrrgh
Also remember that with D2D and DW on, your video card's settings also affect the browser. For example, on AMD cards Anisotropic Filtering gives you fairly blurry text (ok, blurrier). Top one is with AF on, bottom one with AF&AA off.
