Darrian
What's wrong with adding the about:config entry? It's simple, easy and doesn't involve installing an extension.

Sub_Zero_Alchemist
Well, obviously the development up to the anticipated 4.0 is going to be relatively slow and I don't think it's even slated to be released until next year. This way people who don't even know about minefield builds can still see the progress being made in regular intervals. Firefox 4 is still on target to be released this year, if any thing it be pushed back to nov/dec around that time frame.

I don't recall it ever being on target to be released this year. If that's what they're planning now then they must have decided to cut some features, which would make sense if beta 6 is supposed to be "feature complete," because we're still missing some things. Udedenkz
Don't see any effect from it... Flash is still slow. ... you post predates it getting to a nightly release? Edit: And it was backed out due to a bug. Edited September 15, 2010 by Udedenkz
x-byte
So, what do I do with the tar file I downloaded from Mozilla? I extracted it but then what? Why can't they just give me a damn deb file instead... arg edit: using Linux Mint.
Darrian
My general feeling towards linux users is that if you use linux you should be capable of figuring that kind of stuff out. Additionally, Google is your friend. Since I took the liberty of searching for you here's a link that will probably help you out: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Linux
x-byte
I scrapped linux and booted Windows instead. That much hassle for a quick test is pointless.
JoHideo
Are a ton of extensions still incompatible? For example, greasemonkey seems to not want to cooperate so I ended up going back to 3.6.

Corris Veteran Posted September 15, 2010 Veteran Share Posted September 15, 2010 Sweet, the plug-in freezes I was getting seems to be all solved, running great. :D Though is anyone else still getting the text box thing on here, when you click on the fast reply or normal reply box, you have to click it a second time to be able to type? And anyone know the easiest way to disable the backspace key taking a page back?

torrentthief
i don't think so, there's only 5 or 6 bugs fixed in the changelog, the only important bug fixed is the crashing bug. Beta 7 will fix it i'm sure, thats still scheduled for this month atm.

Yeah Flash crashes FF4 B5 on Mac OS X and I also discovered that flash controls don't work on tabs that are set to "App Tab" on Mac OS X (like http://nederland.fm > Radio 538) the controls work fine if the tab isn't an app tab. How do I see if that bug has already been submitted?
BeerFan
Since Beta 5, i've seen a graphical bug show up whenever I use the scroll wheel-click browse method. When I click and hold the scroll wheel, and move the mouse up or down to scroll the page, an ugly square shows up underneath the mouse pointer. Anyone else seeing this? Phenom II
Mozilla have a real battle on their hands with this FFv4 imo - it seems there are so many more issues than in other builds, that they either can not fix yet, or for some reason are skimming over

What's the rush? Looking forward to beta 7. Blog Post Release Notes No rush at all, but since beta 6 is encompassing very few changes, it's also quick to test and release. I think it only has something on the order of five small code changes. I'm surprised it even needed a build2, haha.
