Leaving it until the last minute -- aka being a student -- isn't a good idea either. I can't remember who said it, but there's quite a few performance related things ready for the next beta. Hopefully that should resolve some / all of the above. None of the ones I listed will be fixed with Beta 7. Some won't be fixed with Beta 8 as well. They've been jumping all over the board with fixes. Build a solid base and then worry about cosmetics. People can whine about how it's not pretty yet. It looking pretty for you is dead last in my list of needed changes. I'm writing this in butt ugly chromium cause they fixed everything else first.
