They're finding bugs, working out how severe they are, and fixing them or putting them back until the next beta.

Kirkburn
Of the two open issues, one may already be fixed by a backout, and the other has a potential fix. So don't get too depressed. (And remember, just because this list feels static, doesn't mean development is: it's going on all the time in the background on non-blocking bugs)

I think I read somewhere that there have been over 1500 bugs fixed since Beta 7, so there's a lot going on. It's mostly behind the scenes, though, so we don't notice most of it. aznkid25
If the bugs aren't that big, why can't they just wait until beta 9 to fix them?
Guest mattburles
the first release candidate build of firefox beta 8 is now available through mozilla ftp server: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/4.0b8-candidates/build1/ this wont be the final version of beta 8 (QA will need a week to make sure everything is a go and that no new blockers pop up) i am guessing we will see beta 8 next tuesday than if no new problems occur. Nice find. Looks like they are in the process of uploading them, starting with linux. Hopefully we see the first build for windows in the next few hours. aznkid25
What is the difference between a signed, & unsigned build? Here's the first beta 8 build for windows. It's unsigned though: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/4.0b8-candidates/build1/unsigned/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%204.0%20Beta%208.exe

It's unsigned though: ftp://ftp.mozilla.or...%20Beta%208.exe I'm assuming it means it's not digitally signed, meaning you'll get a prompt telling you that you're installing a program from an unknown publisher.
