Chasethebase Reporter Posted August 24, 2010 Reporter Share Posted August 24, 2010 The theme is still far from finished by the looks of things. If you compare the screenshot above to this, it shows. Also there's a load of PSD's on there if someone wants to recreate the theme exactly to specification. http://blog.stephenhorlander.com/page/2/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/896934-meet-firefox-401/page/72/#findComment-593070264 Share on other sites
+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted August 24, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted August 24, 2010 Please forgive my lack of knowledge and the lack of time I have for research... what is D2D and what will it provide me with in terms of 'nicety'? :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct2D You'll get nicer fonts for one with D2D. Chasethebase Reporter Posted August 24, 2010 Reporter Share Posted August 24, 2010 Does it make a difference if you have GDIPP installed already? As I do I presume D2D isn't necessary. sudo
When I close a tab, it still is there and won't close no matter what, and worse, I can't use it anymore. Anyone having this issue? Never mind, it's my fail script. All working fine. torrentthief
i presume font quality will be equal to the quality of beta 3 by beta5 or will d2d always be blurry? Still annoyed that aero glass is turned on by default, with a black background on win7 you can't see your tabs as they are grey and the text is black:( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/896934-meet-firefox-401/page/72/#findComment-593070442 Share on other sites
tinaun
The problem I have when enabling D2D is that the pages load, but sometimes the rendered page isn't shown, just a blank one. If I minimize and then maximize Firefox, the page appears. Running Vista with a DirectX 10 card. I'm Also running vista, and this happens to me to. Also, the blank page has images of all the flash objects that were in the window, so if i was watching youtube, the page would have a frame from the youtube video on it. Does anyone know of this happening in windows 7? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/896934-meet-firefox-401/page/72/#findComment-593070476 Share on other sites

adiopse
how do you activate the tab candy and that? Hit the "panorama" button, which is next to the dropdown on the right of your tab bar. It probably isn't there if you have an existing profile, so you can add it using rightclick/customize and choosing "tab groups". Put it wherever you want, but I believe it belongs between the "new tab" button and the "tab list dropdown" button. Alt-view / group your tabs also brings it up. LiquidSolstice
Happens every now and then to me in Firefox 3.6 as well as in 4. Really goddamn annoying :(. It makes it impossible to click the X (close) button on the firefox window, and the only way to exit out of Firefox is to either end the process, or use the "Firefox" button in the corner, which kills all my other windows as well. So that feature is already finished and it is enabled per default in the beta browser? And it's not gonna get better in later releases? The premise of D2D is promising if they can deliver in final release. Read up on the link to the wikipage given above. ienhz
I can't believe that start up bug where the entire Firefox UI is white and gray is still there. And I guess we can't make the tab width smaller now since it freezes my tabs if I use the userchrome edit. D2D is enabled if (DX10 == true). There are D2D bug reports for overall and case based perf. increase. There are also two bug reports dealing w. bad D2D flash performance. Whether flash D2D issues will be fixed, the answer may be "yes". For now, I will snarl at anyone who praises FF's D2D implementation. :) Loading && GUI && plugin loading performance suffer with D2D. D2D does offer scrolling perf. increases though.... Chester0
how do you enable/disable D2D i can't seem to find it in about:config How to Turn on Direct2D & DirectWrite for Windows 7 and Windows Vista SP2 (With Platform Update):1. Type: "about:config" in the 'AwesomeBar' and hit Enter. - Search for "gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled". - Select "gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled" and double click to set the Pref to "True" 2. In about:config still, Search for "mozilla.widget.render-mode". - If its not there then add it. (Right Click anywhere and select "NEW" then "Integer". Add in the pref without quotes.) - In the next Dialog type in a value of "6" without quotes. 3. Restart The Browser. If successful, the fonts on the page and browser should be anti-aliased. Websites with large images should load faster, and any SVG examples should be much faster. To turn it off: In about:config, Search for "mozilla.widget.render-mode". - If its not there then add it. (Right Click anywhere and select "NEW" then "Integer". Add in the pref without quotes.) - In the next Dialog type in a value of "0" without quotes. http://forums.mozill...?f=23&t=1775755 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/896934-meet-firefox-401/page/72/#findComment-593071280 Share on other sites
