1- Close the laptop on the bed (or any soft surface).

2- Flip it upside down.

3- Open it with a 35 degree angle.

4- Start patting on the part with the keyboard (from the outside).

5- Start pressing and moving your hand quickly across the keys.

This makes the dust from the keyboard to fall on the screen. Sounds silly, but it's quick and efficient!

I usually take a canister of dust-off (can get them for free) and spray that gently underneath the keys. Never failed so far as long as you're being gentle about it. Also I don't eat or drink near my laptop.

On the other hand, you could take a really wet cloth and try that! (A customer did that last week... I was smiling from the inside).

You can remove the keys, but you need to be really delicate and steady-handed. Most people that remove a key have issues getting them back on - on older keyboards it was just a matter of pushing it back on, but with newer slim keyboards there are tiny plastic pieces which can easily snap.

As for cleaning, I use a narrow brush with long, stiff bristles. I simply tilt my laptop 90 degrees and run the brush aup and down, it cleans it beautifully. Even being vigorous works.

1. Wipe the keyboard keys with a moist cloth (alcohol based wipes if possible, no dripping even if you squeeze it hard).

2. Close the laptop screen fully. Flip it upside down, remove the battery and then shake vigourously. Clean up the debris that lands on the screen by gently opening it upside down on a soft surface.

3. Use a vacuum cleaner with just the hose (make sure it is clean and there is no dust or debris that can fall on to your keyboard) - take your palm and hold it around the opening in such a way that the tip of the hose thingy won't touch the keyboard.

4. Final wipe, and tada.

This is THE best way to regularly clean your laptop keyboard. If you want a better solution, you'd need to take out the keys and clean underneath.

Seriously? I've always cleaned my keyboards (when I do thorough cleans after a few years or after a spill or something) but simply opening it up and taking the front part with the keys and dunking it in the bathtub with hot water... cleans it out perfectly. Let it dry, and put it back together. For most "simple" keyboards (not those expensive ones with tons of extra gadgets) it's really easy.

The keyword here is LAPTOP keyboards... Don't wan't your computer to go swimming in the bath tub, do you..? tongue.gif

I normally use a vacuum cleaner with a special wide nozzle, and afterwards ear buds that's slightly moist to get rid of hairs and pizza crusts...

I tend to douse my computer in lighter fluid and then flick a match... jokes :D

I use glass cleaner on my screen and I use a soft (damp but not dripping, nearly dry) sponge to wipe the keyboard then I tip it upside down shake it, pat it and just make all the debris come off then I wipe it off again that way I know how dirty my keyboard was then I can remember to clean it again every X amount of days.

Here since you state your retarded - this is the retarded method --> You might have to remove the top rack if you have larger laptop, and remember to turn it off ;)
