carmatic
recently i've been tightening the screws on my cpu waterblock, and i was thinking, why not support the waterblock directly on what the motherboard is mounted on, rather than stressing the motherboard and possibly breaking it? like i was thinking of a bracket which reaches from the screw mounting holes to the back of the cpu, and any strain caused by the weight etc of the heatsink/waterblock would be taken by the structure of the cpu chassis... the only thing that will happen on the motherboard is the pressure of the screws holding it to this bracket for example, consider this motherboard: these are its mounting holes: and what i think it should have between it and the chassis is this: basically, think of the cpu backplate, but extend it to all the mounting holes of the mobo why hasnt anyone done this already? is there a problem with it?
