gooberdrops
Some of you people need to take the knot out of your panties and look at Smallville for what it was. A 10 year run of a successful series that was meant to show a different perspective of Clark Kent and his life. Nothing more and nothing less. I enjoyed it. All the good shows and the bad shows. I understood that it was not following the exact Superman lore but so what? I'm sure most of you have no idea some of the things that were produced in the comics concerning Superman in the early 70's or so. In my eyes, there are many different ways to portray his life leading up to him being Superman. Dark_ph0enix
In the later versions (last 2- 3years ago?)of the comic, Lex Luthor becomes president No No - I get that [Wasn't Pete his VP in one of the runs?]. I mean how can he be elected President, in 2018? Shouldn't it have been 2016 [When he might technically have been too young to run] or 2020? Wakers
Watched the finale after having given up on the show a season or two ago. Poor episode. Everything is just so rushed and convoluted. Since about season 5 the show has a feel about it that makes me think it has been written by two teenagers with major ADD, making them add in every possible minor comic character and random plot twist they can possibly put in place. The ending fight was useless, sadly a trend that started with the battle against Bizzaro in Season 4 (?). The first three seasons of Smallville were one of the best TV series that aired in my memory, but after that the slow just went downhill, until it became unwatchable for anyone but diehard fans (like I was), and even then I was turned off around season 8, despite trying to persevere. Lois became gradually more annoying, Tess was never cast well (nor did I really see the point in her role), and they never really managed to replace Jonathan Kent, Lex Luthor or Lionel with decent, new characters. The cameo by Rosenbaum really put to shame Durance, whoever plays Tess and Alison Mack - he was instantly 10000x more convincing in his role than they have ever been. +Warwagon MVC Posted May 14, 2011 MVC Share Posted May 14, 2011 I'm watching the finale and am about ready to fall a sleep. So far 30 mins in it's a snoozer. Update HOLY CRAP lex can act. He's the only one who can act on the entire show. He's The only one who doesn't sound Like he is reading cue cards. Zoom7000
I loved the finale. It became EPIC towards the end and I loved the cameo's nearer the end. It was REALLY cool to see Jimmy! Wish we could have seen Perry too! Would have also been cool to see a few other cameos: Pete, Dr. Emil, Justice League, Martian Manhunter and it would have been cool to see Oliver in the future. Having said all that though, a very nice finish. So sad it's over now. Come on CW - Metropolis, make it happen! +Warwagon MVC Posted May 14, 2011 MVC Share Posted May 14, 2011 Well just finished it. I thought it sucked 97% balls. The only good part was the music at the very end. zeroday
Ending was way too rushed. Not even a proper fight scene between him and Darkseid, I mean really? C'mon. This was supposed to be the epic fight. Why was Jonathan popping up all over the place, what was that all about? And why do they need to ruin a perfectly good shirt by ripping it open each time he needs to change into his suit? BetaAddict
Truly disappointing. All this promise to be epic finale and it turns out to be a snoozer up until the last 20min. And now I finally have an answer to why there were so many fillers this season: superman defeats darkseid with one uneventful punch. Otherwise, there would have been a greater emphasis on darkness consuming the world and the entire justice league banding together to put an end to it, except none of that happens. Well, at least now I can move on from this show. If they do plan on creating a sequel, better recast everyone to people who can actually and find a new director/writer that come up with a script and storyline worth watching. Am_I_Evil
sooooooo....how did he know Lionel wasn't still in there and that it was compeltely darkseid? did he x-ray vision and not see a heart...because we sure as hell didn't see it...what if Lionel had still been in there...did he not care if he killed him? . And now I finally have an answer to why there were so many fillers this season yeah...because they wasted half of their budget on a ****ty CGI suit...lol Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/903600-smallville-season-10-the-final-season/page/18/#findComment-593986106 Share on other sites
Wakers
I stopped watching this season after about 3 episodes, so there a few things I don't understand. 1) Why is Lionel back? How many times was he "really, really killed" in the series? 2) Why is Jonathan back as a ghost, and why can everyone talk to him? xWhiplash
Wow way to many people whining about the episode. If you watch any superman movies, how long does he protect the world on screen? 30 minutes? The rest he is upset over Lois or something like that. I do not know what people were expecting from a TV show when the superman movies do not have him fight the entire time. Also, people do not really pay attention to anything anymore. It is no wonder why every single new show gets canceled when they cannot even remember the stuff that happened from the premiere. This was never about a physical confrontation/beatdown between Superman and Darkseid. This season was about internal psychological darkness and a beacon of light overcoming that. People (maybe not all) saw something flying to Apokolips and moving it. Just like Clark said in earlier in the episode, the individual's darkness was providing some sort of gravitational pull to the planet. Just like what Clark did to Oliver, as people broke out of the darkness, the planet became easier for him to move away. I bet you Darkseid will be back for Superman in several years. You want to see a person in a suit? That is what the movies are for. They never promised it would happen. The show has always been about "A boy's journey to becoming superman" and that is exactly what we got. Clark flew twice this season, and we did see him in portions of the suit. Not seeing him in a full suit is just fine with me. I personally do not care because that is not what the show was about. xWhiplash
How did people get to the assumption that we would get anything more? We were lucky to even see the suit since the original creators said there would never be flying or a suit in the show. I was not expecting anything more than what we saw. Were people expecting millions of dollars budget wise? SuperJediMedia
I think it's safe to say that Neowin folks were NEVER big Smallville fans in the first place, thus all these whining. The main problem with Neowin people not being Smallville fans probably has to do misunderstanding what the show is about, like Whiplash perfectly said. When you read comments like "Why don't they do this 5 years ago (Fly/Wear the suit)" it's just proving that Neowin DON'T understand this show is called Smallville, NOT Superman! When the producers said 'No tights, no flight until the end' people act like that's BS and still demand flying and Suits, thus disappointing themselves! The show had good episodes, and bad episodes, but Neowin unlike sites like Superherohype, and Kryptonsite are more likely to even criticize the good episodes. I can't guarantee why was the Darkseid battle so short, I didn't like that at all either, but the smartest guess I can come up with may be the budget issue. Had more people watched Smallville for the past few years, the budget might been better due to higher ratings, so who is really to blame? I blame the fans NOT watching it because they can't understand what the show is about! They wrongfully think it's about Superman, while clearly it was about Clark Kent before he becomes Superman. Then again, if not that many people were interested in Clark Kent before he becomes Superman as rating indicates (Despite strong interest from Kryptonsite), then we probably should agree the show dragged on too long. Oh then again, I did find some excellent episodes for the last couple seasons despite it probably did drag on for too long. At the end of the series, it's just a TV show with very limited budget and small interest amoung the general viewership. Not a movie. Not even a made-for-TV movie NOT as popular as American Idol or Glee :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/903600-smallville-season-10-the-final-season/page/18/#findComment-593987304 Share on other sites

ATLien_0
Jedi while harsh I do tend to agree, If you have followed the show the least bit or the whole 10 years you should have gone into the finale expecting poor fight scenes. That has always been the nature of Smallville. Poor story development and writing. did people expect this to change over night? and a huge finale budget? If you went into the finale with those expectations then of course you would be disapointed. I for one was happy to see it wrap up, it was always about Clarks journey and never about the superman fight scene Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/903600-smallville-season-10-the-final-season/page/18/#findComment-593987598 Share on other sites

giantpotato
Even with the problems such as Darkseid being defeated in about 2 seconds, and Clark having no problem moving an entire planet. My biggest problem was the Lex mindwipe. They spend 7 years developing Lex as a character, explaining why he becomes evil, just to throw that all away at the last minute and have no explanation. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/903600-smallville-season-10-the-final-season/page/18/#findComment-593987676 Share on other sites
