Wonder what's different with this one.

This is what they wrote in their announcement.

Q. What's new in this version of the Microsoft Security Essentials Ongoing Beta?

A. This version of the Microsoft Security Essentials Ongoing Beta contains some enhancements and compatibility fixes to facilitate a seamless upgrade experience to future versions of Microsoft Security Essentials.

Nope..... Uninstalled 1961.... downloaded the 'latest' from the MSE site.... and its still 1961 realmad.gif

The update is for the Ongoing Beta, not the Stable version.

Meanwhile, they still haven't fixed the damn bug with scanning files when you navigate through folders in Windows Explorer. *adds it back to the exlude list*

If your on the ongoing beta then you can update through MSE a pop-up came up for me telling me there was a new build to download. I've not used nod32 but its miles better than AVG free that i used before MSE.

Can you update it through MSE or do we need to download it off the Microsoft website?

What do you guys think of MSE compared to say nod32?

I got the update earlier. There is no download link to it. I was using version 1.0.1959.0 (The latest ongoing beta version before that one).

If you want it, you need get the older version on Microsoft Connect then update. This link might still work.

Thanks for the heads up :p

It probably expired since then.

I know how we can download 1.0.1963.0. People with this version must find the latest link _http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/crup/2010/06/msseupdateinstall-amd64fre-en-us-vista-win7_... in C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log and share it. For example the link to 1.0.1961.0 is _http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/crup/2010/03/msseupdateinstall-amd64fre-en-us-vista-win7_58b35d209721c9c13b05b7f0944b9182c0120e88.exe It may contains */beta/* or something else.

Or find installer in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Lewism , can you do this?

Can't find it in my log. I updated through the software and not Windows Update.

*Edit*

I found that the unpacked installer is in that folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Essentials\Backup

It's uploading right now.
