Denis W. Veteran Posted June 17, 2010 Author Veteran Share Posted June 17, 2010 They had it that way after the feature was first implemented but a lot of people complained in their forums and blogs so it was changed. Can't please everyone. Btw. the new build released today fixes a lot of small stuff. Imo it's the best build since a long time. This build. Fixes some month old bugs too: the image loading bug (images load from 0%-10%-(long pause)-100%) and Flash videos not painting correctly on first load. mr.r9
The built-in ad blocker works very well. There's a good block list here Thanks man. Btw, Opera is very very nice. I haven't tried it in a year or so, but now it's definitely better than Firefox. Mozilla has to slim down Firefox a lot to make it feel light like Opera & Chrome. I think I'll stick to Opera for now  Edit: Why is this in the Back Page News and not in software/Browsers section? iwod
No, it just installs to a different (beta) folder to prevent you from accidentally installing over your main Opera installation. Thanks for the pointer, any chance i could get my previous file out to new installation? MR_Candyman
Thanks for the pointer, any chance i could get my previous file out to new installation? Honestly, I just use Opera Link to do this. I know there's another way but I wouldn't bother. This is apparently what you do if you don't use Opera Link Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/911086-opera-1060-beta-1/page/3/#findComment-592775150 Share on other sites
Denis W. Veteran Posted June 18, 2010 Author Veteran Share Posted June 18, 2010 Thanks for the pointer, any chance i could get my previous file out to new installation? Try uninstalling the beta, then reinstall it and point its install directory to your old installation. HawkMan
Yeah, you could copy the stuff from the appdata folders, but you'll have to dig around the profile folder. Pallab
Nothing can beat good ol' command line though... Lynx rulezzzzzzzzz! Seriously though, Opera rocks. It really does. But, it also desperately needs an API [Note to other Opera fans: Before you jump on me, yeah I know a good deal about the different customisation possibilities offered by Opera, having blogged about them extensively in the past]. Zer0_II
It's odd that the thread for Opera 10.6 Alpha received mostly positive comments due to the increase in speed, while this thread has mostly received negative comments. I've been testing out this version of Opera since it was released yesterday, and I only have positive things to report. It's been very fast and stable. The only problem I have with this release is the "menu" text on the menu button, but that can easily be removed. I hope other people won't let the negative comments prevent them from trying out Opera. Every browser, OS, application, phone, pc, laptop, tablet, <insert brand name here>, and <insert manufacturer here> has unfortunately haters who live to post in threads about them and talk trash. It's even worse when it directly compete with their <insert all items listed earlier here>. They feel the need to run the competition into the ground, call them fanboi's or whatever it's what they do and will always do. I've never understood the people who post in the Opera threads about how Firefox, Chrome or Safari is so much better for this reason or that one, same with the Microsoft v. Apple crap. If you like Opera use it, it's a great browser, I prefer Firefox for the extensions, but I have Opera installed because I like it as well. I used Chromium for a while but eventually removed it, it just didn't have a compelling reason for me to keep it. It wasn't bad, but Opera and Fx do all I need.
