So, I guess the officiating isn't any better in the World Cup than in any other sport I watch here in the US.

Juiced athletes in every sport. Corrupt officials/refs/umpires.

Sports are a croc. Pro level and collegiate. What a joke!

Funny how the USA match threads keeps exploding ...

Because we treat like the World Cup like the Olympics, even if you don't watch sports you still watch to support your country.

Horrendous call, but this tie was canceled out by England's tie. All we gotta do is beat Algeria by more than England beats Slovenia. Or England can tie or lose. That would be nice too.

This result really helps England in the group.

Fantastic comeback from the USA, one of the best games I've seen all week!

It doesn't exactly hurt the US, either.

However, it *does* make both England-Algeria and US-Algeria both critical matches.

The Slovenes have one win and one draw, the US has two draws, England has one draw with England-Algeria upcoming. If England beats Algeria, Algeria is done with two losses (however, they can still play spoiler by beating the US). If England and Algeria tie, but Algeria loses to the US, Slovenia and the US advance, while England and Algeria are done (unless England beats Slovenia; a draw does them no good).

Basically, Algeria's back is against it; they cannot afford to lose to either England or the US. For the US, the situation is almost as dire (with two draws) If England beats Algeria, they must beat Algeria even more (greater goal differential) to survive; however, should England merely draw or (horrors!) lose, then it becomes simple - win against Algeria and advance.

England not only has to beat Algeria (a draw here could be as bad as a loss, with the US having two draws), but hope the US doesn't. If both beat Algeria, but the US has a greater goal differential, then England-Slovenia becomes even more critical. If England and Algeria draw, but the US beats Algeria, England *must* beat Slovenia to advance (same applies if England were to lose to Algeria).

While the Slovenes are in the catbird seat, they can't afford to relax with one match remaining in Group play (England); nor can they overlook Algeria's matches (against England and the US); should England beat Slovenia and the Algerians take a shellacking or two, the Slovenes could find themselves on the outside looking in still (even with just one loss).

Just got around to seeing all of the goals, and they were some decent ones going in for once!

Also the draw helped out England, although they didn't really capitalise by drawing to Algeria.
