spaceelf
Yeah, I never do that either. It's such a nice basement. I just think people could be a little more respectful. I admit I don't feel Crackdown 2 is better in every way, but I've only played the demo until tomorrow. It certainly has a considerable amount more variety, but I do think the freak presence at night is a little overkill to the point of silliness...and it needs more factions IMO. Still, Pacific City is my home. I'll play through it many many times I'm sure :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/911896-crackdown-2-discussion/page/4/#findComment-592877134 Share on other sites

Spookie
I'm amused that you feel the need to crap on other peoples opinions. Pardon? He said it looks much better than the first. I'm going to point out it's the same engine with a render tweak. He had the chance to define what "way better" meant in regards to gameplay but didn't. edit: It wasn't suppose to come across as offensive but people really need to stop being so hyper sensitive. Sethos
After playing the demo I decided to cancel my pre-order, I had hoped they changed the Crackdown recipe a bit but it's exactly the same. While that's not a bad thing for some, I definitely had enough playing the first game. Also, is it just me or did they royally screw up the car handling since the first game? It was actually fun to drive in Crackdown, in the demo it was horrible! He had the chance to define what "way better" meant in regards to gameplay but didn't. It is still his opinion. Hell, even Ruffian disagrees with him judging by this http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-crackdown2-tech-interview There's this bit too http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/27/ruffian-games-billy-tomson-and-james-cope-discuss-crackdown-2/ There was an article written following PAX East 2010 about the lack of gender selection for the agents. There are no playable female characters in the game. How much time does it take to implement a player choice like that? Is that something you have to plan right from the beginning to make it work correctly? BT: You would, yeah. It's a big undertaking to do both a male and female player character. When you consider the amount of different levels of interaction that you've got: Hand-to-hand, all the weapons, all the interaction with the environment, all the vehicles, swimming, gliding. There's so much stuff in there and you've got to do that for both male and female. It's not that it can't be done but it wasn't a question of time for us. It was memory. If we had used the memory it would have taken to do a full female character then we would have been robbing from some other area. The way we look at it is, the amount of variation we've got vehicles-wise, characters-wise, and weapons-wise meant we would have lost quite a bit if we added a full other character who was female. We actually had it for the first game. We built the character. We built all the animations for a female character and we had to pull it towards the end and the last thing we wanted to do was go through that again. WastedJoker
Just make it a really butch mute female using the same models but a different head. That means you get buy in from the lesbian, female and disabled sections of the gaming community. It was actually fun to drive in Crackdown, in the demo it was horrible! I pretty much thought the demo blew chunks, IMO. Granted, I am tempted to rent solely for the purpose of getting all the orbs, but that is it. They should just have an orb game, something small like a portal game. The car handling to me was also wonky. It is still his opinion. He is not allowed to have an opinion because he likes it. I think its about time to stop drinking so much Dew :p No, wasn't being a jerk at all. I actually support his opinion. I have had the opinion in the minority many times, and I have felt the wrath. I used to be a Dew-aholic....sometimes 3 a day every day. Then I switched to Diet Dew about 3 years ago. And now I switched to Sprite Zero about a year ago (less sodium). I took a sip of a Dew last week, and DANG that was syrupy and sweet. I won't be going back to it :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/911896-crackdown-2-discussion/page/4/#findComment-592878316 Share on other sites

It was actually fun to drive in Crackdown, in the demo it was horrible! Yeah I was saying this to Rob last week, and it's not only the car controls either. The free running feels different too, even just small differences like the detection for catching a ledge. Tbf the only time I used the cars in the original game was for the skills. I had way too much fun traversing on foot the rest of the time. spaceelf 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/911896-crackdown-2-discussion/page/4/#findComment-592878344 Share on other sites

And they seem to about APB also. And now C2. And as far as I can tell, they really haven't changed it much in any of the three. Honestly the only issue I had with the cars in C1 was when you tried to use one of the trucks with ramps. 9 times out 10 the front of your car would clip and screw up your speed/direction. I've not actually checked if it's still there, but it really used to **** me off when I was doing stunts. @Brain, yup, I was one of those people :p It's horrible, even the horses in RDR handle like crap too. spaceelf
Just Cause 2 rocks. It's kind of ironic. C2 isnt much different from the original (except in variety) but Just Cause 2 is far more like Crackdown than JC1 was hahah. I can't even get myself to play JC1 and I still play 2 practically every day. Unrealistic
So I just finished a 2 1/2 hour session. At first it was quite fun, like the original crackdown, but after a while it just feels like you're grinding. There's no real leader or any momentum to continue. I found myself just killing zombies and whatever the hell the bad guys call themselves. I was trying to get level 4 Agility, but 160 orbs later I got tired and decided to stop for now. I definitely regret paying full price for the game. It's still fun, but the essence that was Crackdown seems to just be missing. Don't get me wrong, it's fun, but it's missing some of the charm of Crackdown 1. I find myself going into parts of the world I used to enjoy, and now they are broken down or missing pieces. If they make a Crackdown 3, they better change the engine, the location and figure out a way to make it better than the first. Everything just feels blah. 500 Agility Orbs, 300 Hidden orbs, 30 running agility orbs, blah blah blah. Microsoft ****ed up Crackdown 2. Even I wrote it off initially at launch but I bought it much cheaper later & saw a different side to it the reviews didn't pick up on. Not got around to JC2 yet but I've heard good things.
