Windows Live Essentials 'beta' out now!

Recommended Posts

What about those of us who haven't come across any bugs? I haven't and I use most of the features. It makes sense for you to try it out for yourself; a lot of people who report so called 'bugs' are just not using the software properly and blame the software...

wrong, I will tell you of 2 bugs,

1. the one everyone is talking about, the share something new in messenger not syncing with facebook

2. in mail, there is a bug when you try to assign a rule to move certain things to a folder automatically, try it and you'll see what I mean

Yes, 2 bugs... Man, do any of you read my posts? I didn't say there were no bugs, I just said I haven't come across any; I haven't come across the 'share something new' issue because I haven't used that feature. I was trying to point out to Shayla and others thinking the same as her that it makes sense to try it out because it's not as buggy for a lot of people as some are trying to make it sound.

Maybe you should read my posts properly in future?

HELP!?

One of the features I loved of the old Live Essentials was the Gallery Sync. It would not only sync your pictures, but the tags, changes, etc that were done inside Live Gallery.

I know there is the Live Sync feature, but will that do what I want - sync my pictures between multiple computers with the same Faces, Tags, Edits, etc??

Thanks,

MJ

Oooooh...does it mean -- once it works properly -- we will be able to create client-side rules in WLMail? Number and flexibility of rules in Web Hotmail is nowhere near enough for me

Well, I managed to install it on my laptop, but not on my work's desktop. Here's the error:

Any ideas?

Same here, also. Except with everything in the suite, and cycling between Mesh, WLLogin and "unknown error".

Can't install Login Assistant or Mesh or the old suite either. For the former I'm getting error code 2203's, whereas the latter doesn't have an explanation at all.

Go here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Windows Live\.cache

or here: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live\.cache

Remove everything in that folder and run the setup again. That works for me when I get those kind of errors.

Uninstall any Live programs if any exist in add/remove

Install and run Windows Install Clean up and remove any Live programs that show up

Manually delete my Windows Live folder in program files

Restart and it installed without a hitch.

Ok, thanks for sharing the info.

Gonna give it a try. (Y)

EDIT: No success. :(

Couldn't install programs

Couldn't install these programs: Messenger, Messenger Companion

It looks like another program is preventing the installer from working.

Please check whether Windows Firewall Service & System restore, both are turned on.

1) Type services.msc in the Run dialogue box. There search whether "Windows Firewall" Service is running or not. If it is not, then Double click on the service name & select "Automatic" from the start up type selection menu.

2) Type regedit in Run dialogue box, then go to this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore. Check if there are 2 keys by the name "DisableConfig" & "DisableSR" are visible in the right hand side pane. If they are then delete both of them.

3) Now reboot your PC & try installing again.
