Same here but the amateur races need old Japanese cars that I don't have. Also upgrades are essential since without it stock cars have to no chance to win. Too bad the game doesn't tell you that the competitor?s cars are modified or not.

The used car dealership is a pain. I remember GT2's used car dealers which worked well. Why they did it like this I don't know. There are always going to be spots where AI can be tricked or confused. See this one from Forza for an example:
I don't for a second believe this is indicative of the AI in Forza at all (which is the one and only game on the Xbox I'd ever want to buy), the same way that one GT5 video shows them avoiding and another doesn't.

I need to retract my earlier statement about not noticing in GT5. Actually I did. When I was trying to see if I could get damage on the NASCAR in arcade mode, I was going the opposite way, and I would park in the middle of the track hoping they would hit me on the narrow areas of Madrid. Nope, they were trying to avoid me as well.

I have a short memory!

8. Tracks are worse than PGR4 or Forza 3

This I can't agree with. I love Forza 3, and I love most of the tracks, but dang...the original tracks in GT5 are awesome, ESPECIALLY Cape Ring...I love that track the most of any racing game for some unknown reason.

Well, good and bad news. Good news is, there is no such thing as unlocking the damage at any level. The damage is always there. Bad news is, it takes an eternity and then some to even get the damage exposed.

Sony Debunks Unlocking Theory

http://uk.ps3.ign.co.../1137446p1.html

Sony has debunked claims that damage in Gran Turismo 5 is unlocked, telling IGN that the feature "occurs right from the beginning."

Since Polyphony's long in development driving simulator released last week there's been confusion about how damage works in Gran Turismo 5, with its implementation disappointing some while an online video has suggested than it's more extensive than is immediately apparent.

Sony has since clarified to IGN how damage works in the game. "Damage occurs to cars right from the beginning," Sony said in a statement, "it is not "unlocked."

Confusion seems to have stemmed from its differing implementation across the game's extensive garage, a point that Sony further clarified. "Standard models have minor deformation and scratches," said Sony, "Premium cars have greater visible level of damage, and Premium racing models have the highest level of damage."Â

IGN gave Gran Turismo 5 an 8.5, and we'll be bringing you the full video review shortly.

I didn't figure you had to unlock damage seems kind of dumb to me. The cars that you can really trash cannot be bought until later on in the game anyways so in a way I guess it is unlocking it :p

I am really looking forward to this game. Might actually get me to buy a PS3 just for it. Not sure If I can get rid of my Xbox 360 yet though. :(

Still IGN Sucks cause i know they didn't play the game long enough, especially to where i'm at now.

Nah, IGN is actually pretty good. They missed a feature, but their review is still spot on. Autoblog.com finished the game, played it online, and found that the damage is also hard to obtain and gave it actually a worse review than IGN.

My first car is a premium and it could be damaged at level 0. You just have have to spend awhile beating on it to break it.

Don't get rid of the 360, just get a PS3 and GT5. I am sure there will be some deals closer to Christmas ;) Forza 4 should be out in the not to far away future.

The game is a blast so far though. :)

Have patience young Padawan. If I have a car you need, I can borrow you one tonight when I get home. Just let me know what you need.

Thanks, I did not get a chance to play since I posted that, but will definitely let you know. Much appreciated. I know I need a older one, 69 or something like that, but I forget the exact specs. Do not think I will be able to play tonight either, have to much to do on top of a dentist appointment, but next time I play, if I need something will post here. Again appreciated.

Has anyone watched a demo of the F1 Ferrari that cost 12.5 mil? The front rims do not spin... And the rims are a static image, not modeled.

One thing that bugs me: the "Restart" button on the in-game pause menu doesn't have any sort of second confirmation when you press it. I've been halfway into a race, paused to look at something on my computer or use the restroom or whatever, then come back and accidentally hit restart. :(

Am I the only one who watches the replays or the B Spec, and all the gaps have white trim/stitching along them when the car is away from the sun?

Not watched the video but they aren't the 'spinners' that they had in the last season are they for aerodynamic purposes?

Once again, I'd just like to say that the Lotus Elise challenge on the TG Test Track is annoying as hell! Whose bright idea was it to put comfort tyres on? It makes the car unbelievably twitchy, and it slides too much, even with it stability management on. I think they need to change it to sport tyres in a future patch, because the other two challenges are far too easy. I've already got gold on the Kubelwagen challenge. The only problem you'll encounter is when the figure of eight meets, and you're at risk of crashing into the other race happening on the track. The trick to winning is to keep the throttle at about two-thirds when you hit 50MPH. If you hit the rev limiter, you'll slowly drop down to about 46/47, then you have to work back up again. Fortunately, the AI do this as well, so if you keep it level at around 50MPH, you'll breeze through. :)

AB, you mentioned earlier about brake upgrade and adjustments, and that they are indeed in the game. Do you know where I can find those?

I dont follow F1 but if you look at the car in the Dealership the rims look like static images instead of 3d modeled rims.

Here is a video from this year... (Same car as in game)

Strangely it's not in the tuning section unless you go to it via the garage I found that there is an option to adjust the brake settings, when you have the option to change into the car or tune the car I think it was.
