1 week in. and yeah I am selling this on glyde.com or eBay. it just isnt worth a $60 game for me right now. I didnt buy Forza 3 for the same reason. My reasons:

1. Menu system is screwed up. yes this is a racing game (but a GAME). it should be accessible

2. Standard vs Premium Cars really turns me off

3. Damage needs to be unlocked? What world is PD living in

4. Sound! it sounds all soft and downtrodden, Forza 3 sounded much better

5. Online! anyone can start a race WTF!

6. Online! customization and implementation is worse but forgiveable as its PD's first proper online implementation.

7. Some cars and tracks don't give the speed that I should feel driving that fast.

8. Tracks are worse than PGR4 or Forza 3

9. This is 2010. when it snows or rains, your whole standard OR premium car turns pixelated in it, what the hell?!

What will make me buy it when its cheaper

1. Handling is amazing

2. They will patch it up good

3. DLC will come and will the make more playable

You sound like somebody who is rarely pleased with any game.

Good riddance. The good thing is: you're allowing somebody else to pick up this game at a great price. (Y)

I do infact finish almost all the games I buy. The ones I remember I sold this early was Alan Wake, Too Human and Crackdown. The cars in GT5 don't feel like I own them, they feel like I am owed them. The suprising thing is a week into release eBay has about a dozen copies of this game new and sealed for 50$

Okay, so I'm in B-Spec mode on the Pickup Truck challenge. I have a 450 horsepower Dodge Ram and I cannot win the Daytona event for crap. He gets to first at the beginning of the race, but he eventually hits his brakes going into every corner and ends up finishing 8th or below every time. I have tried keeping him aggressive (in the red), and middle of the road to no avail. Anyone else having trouble with this? Has anyone actually beat this in b spec?

yeah i had that problem too, i just skipped it and called him a retard.

Same exact problem here too. I have the HP up to 491, and I changed the transmission from the advanced 5 speed that I bought, which tops out at 149mph (because it's geared for short tracks) and went back to the standard tranny (tops out at 211mph), and my truck STILL started out at top, got sent to the back yet again.

Anyone know when the patch is hitting? Done some B-Spec last night, my guy kicked ass :p

Other than the damn Daytona series with the truck, my guy is at Spec 8 now I think, and he is all gold baby.

Strangely it's not in the tuning section unless you go to it via the garage I found that there is an option to adjust the brake settings, when you have the option to change into the car or tune the car I think it was.

Thanks! I will check it out tonight. What about brake upgrades?

Your best bet is probably to do some other races with him to build his experience up some more. Then try again and he should find it easier.

I dont follow F1 but if you look at the car in the Dealership the rims look like static images instead of 3d modeled rims.

Here is a video from this year... (Same car as in game)

There are 2 F1 ferrari's in game if i"m correct. One is the 2007 model. These had wheelcaps on the front wings to reduce drag. These caps were forbidden for this year because some of them came lose and were a potential hazard.

The 2010 version should have normal front wheels like in this GT5 demo :

I'm still trying to go through the licenses and i can't seem to move on until i get all golds. B-6 and A-8 doing my head in :pinch:

Is gold a "personal" goal or something? I have mostly bronze and silver in the license tests. Gold isn't required to pass those.

Yeah it would be a personal goal. Plus a better reward for doing so as well. I am for silvers as some times getting gold seems almost impossible! Will give it a bit more dedication later once I'm bored with the racing side of it all (could be some time yet)

Yup, I am going to go back and get golds once I complete the career. I have all golds in career, so hopefully I can obtain those in all the license too. I honestly don't know if I can get all gold in the Special Events (unlikely).

BTW, I needed a $400k Lambo....man it took quite a bit to get that cash. I even sold off a few cars including the RUF I was awarded to get it to move forward. I am NOT liking this career progression as much as I had hoped :( I tuned it up to 710hp as well so that I can take it on the back of Sarthe and get my 400km acheevo.....err trophy.yes.gif

Impressive, gives a good indication of how realistic both the track and car models are smile.gif

What are you talking about? In one turn there were clearly more scrapes on the barriers in the real footage than GT5. And I think I also caught a misplaced graffiti on the track! ;)

I wish we had more cockpit view control in GT5 instead of the 3 choices we have now. I like how in FM3 we get a broader spectrum, with the ability to show the hand on the console shifter as you can set the camera back further if you like.

If you put the camera any further back than default you'd hardly be able to see out of the window :/

What choices do we have in GT5, are we able to adjust it?

After playing it for a while it definitely has that Japanese feel that a lot of games have these days compared to the games that come from the US/EU, it has some really nice bits and bobs and is generally a great game, but is missing some basic things that a lot of Japanese developers don't seem to understand should really be in there.

You only get paint from buying a car in the colour, which to me seems pretty stupid since you can only do two things with paint which is repaint another car or paint a cars wheels, they really should have just put in a paint shop of some kind that you can buy paint directly or just charges you for changing the colour, it is just added fluff that doesn't really need to be in.

Same for Horns, I keep getting them, but they seem rather pointless in the end unless I could buy and swap them in and out etc.

Weather and Time changes, you can set time in an on-line room but for some reason they don't let you mess around with any of the settings in Arcade or Practice which seems like a bit of a stupid thing really, it can be dynamic till the cows come home, but I would still like to be able to set them myself for when I want to.

The used car dealership is a bit of a mess, they should have just have it like the premium one instead of hoping to find a car you like on the off chance, and once you purchase a car there should be some sort of symbol next to it on the dealership so you know if you have got one, because I sure as hell can't remember probably 10 cars I own, let alone having to worry about 1000 of the buggers.

And to face facts, they should have just developed a standard cockpit for each manufacturer and stuck that in each of the used cars for said manufacturer, besides the ones that are given to me, I doubt I will ever buy a Used Car to actually use as I quite like going into the cockpit view.

Just seems like they missed some really basic things from the game that could have made it that much better, I think Sony need to at least double their team for the next game, and throw some western devs to sort out these basic things that Japanese Devs miss.

I agree with everything you have said here, I hate the painting options and the used car dealership. I can't completed half of the races in beginner or amateru because of certain cars/trucks I need but cannot find anywhere. They really should have taken some notes from Turn 10 on the way the paint system, tuning shop (ability to sell unused parts) and the dealerships. Dont brag about 1000+ cars when we can't even access half of them at any one time. Other than that I am really enjoying the game so far.

<snip>

I'd agree with that. The paint thing is just odd and makes no sense really.

Used car dealership is driving me bonkers as well. GT2, if I remember right, had a "used" selection in each manufacturers garage. Would be much better IMO. Currently having to do all the (rather dull) licenses just to get a pickup truck.
