No, technically Portugal could have gone out if they'd lost and Ivory Coast scored like 10 goals so i think they were trying to play it safe.

What were the chances of that happening? 1 in 10 million? ;)

Both teams were more interested in managing efforts in the second half of the game, it's quite understandable.

Brazilian fans are now causing alterations in Lisbon. Some people hurt, including police officers. Rubber bullets fired. Regretful.

At least two Brazilian fans were arrested this afternoon by the PSP at Nations Park in Lisbon, after clashes with police that occurred late in the game between Portugal and Brazil, the source told Lusa PSP.

A spokesman for the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (COMETLIS) PSP, Carla Duarte, stated that at the end of the game many fans have begun to damage vehicles that were parked near some bars and restaurants in the area north of the Park of Nations.

The subcomissária said that at least two Brazilian fans were arrested, one for having encouraged the clashes with the police and the other by throwing stones at officers.

According to the spokesman COMETLIS was necessary to reinforce police in the Rapid Intervention Teams, taking into account "the hundreds of fans."

Before the game and Prevention, had already been mobilized for the Park of Nations civilian police officers and uniformed, he added, saying that "were not enough against the riots."

Actually most Brazilians in Portugal are high level students, like dentists. doctors and so on...

The trash from here either stays here in favelas or go to the UK and US. Don't ask me why.

Yes, most Brazilians living here are educated, friendly people. Our brothers as we call them.

These were isolated incidents, some hooligans that started the whole thing, probably some Portuguese were in it too... Anyway, it's was a small incident all is peaceful now.
