BBgamer Posted October 2, 2010 Share Posted October 2, 2010 Lately been trying to download and install Windows Live messenger or any other Windows Live program from the essentials suite, and find that it doesn't work? I have, and I have found a simple solution. This was tried, tested and confirmed to work on Windows 7 32bit, and it should work on Windows XP and/or Vista. Lets start! Make sure you are an administrator first, or this may not work. Note: If you're completely unsure about this, make a system restore point (Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore) first. 1. First of all, download and install the 'Windows Install Cleanup' utility. I used the download from Softpedia. You can download this here: http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility-Download-18442.html 2. Now open the Windows Install Cleanup utility, which can be found in your Start menu in all programs. 3. On the list of 'installed products', scroll down close to the bottom until you see the Windows Live programs. 4. Click the first Windows Live program. Hold SHIFT and click the last Windows Live program on the list. Now click remove. 5. Wait until the program has finished doing what it needs to do. 6. Download windows live essentials and install. Worked wonders for me, got the new Windows Live Messenger open now and got Windows Live Movie Maker as well! Everything went a bit haywire and that fixed it.
