UFC 125 - Edgar vs Maynard/Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva

It's a shame that Nelson got cut but the HW picture is a bit murky at the moment. There is one clear contender in JDS and the rest is... a mess. Carwin is injured and coming from a loss, Cro Cop is coming from a loss and awful performance, Mir won but did an awful job at that and the rest are pretty much irrelevant at the momento.

"Grispi: Aldo Can Be Knocked Out, Choked Out"

All I can say... LOL. I know he's doing his part in hyping up the fight but he will get smashed into pieces. He hasn't fought anyone remotely on the level as Aldo...

LOL but on the other side of the coin it would be a MASSIVE upset if he did beat him

Sure. But unlike Lesnar, Aldo has no obvious weaknesses. He's only been beaten once and has completely dominated every other opponent. Of his 8 fights in the WEC, only 1 has gone to decision and that Faber fight was a complete beatdown. Faber couldn't even stand on his leg at the end of the fight.

He's one of the best P4P fighters in the UFC and if he moved to LW, he would do unspeakable things to Frankie Edgar/Gray Maynard.

Aldo is out due to injury. This card just flopped badly. Without Aldo, it's an OK card but it's not the kind of card that the UFC wants to start the year with. I hope they find a new co-main event instead of promoting a fight to that status (who are the going to promote anyway? Guida? Diaz? Leben? LoL)

I would like Faber to fight but since Cruz is defending the title on December 16th it's too soon. Maybe give Jake Ellenberger a fight.

They took one of the best cards of the year and just took a dump all over it. Thiago Silva vs Bradon Vera was also added to the card. Both coming from losses. Probably fighting for their jobs. Same things as the Baroni vs Tavares fight. Tavares is 1-0 in the UFC MW division and Baroni is coming from 2 straight losses...

The most interesting fight on this card might not even air: Antonio McKee straight out of MFC takes on Volkmann. I'm hoping that he wins it and makes a run for the belt eventually.

Final card added to UFC.com. The moved the Vera vs Silva fight up to the main card. Way to put more pressure on 2 fights fighting for their jobs.

Main card

  • Lightweight Championship bout: Frankie Edgar © vs. Gray Maynard
  • Middleweight bout: Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
  • Light Heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
  • Welterweight bout: Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
  • Lightweight bout: Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi

Preliminary card

  • Lightweight bout: Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stephens
  • Featherweight bout: Josh Grispi vs. Dustin Poirier
  • Middleweight bout: Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares
  • Featherweight bout: Mike Brown vs. Diego Nunes
  • Welterweight bout: Daniel Roberts vs. Greg Soto
  • Lightweight bout: Jacob Volkmann vs. Antonio McKee

Josh Grispi must be ****ed. He went from co-main event to the undercard and altough he will probably win, it still puts pressure on him to keep his title shot.

Ha exactly what i was just thinking, bet he isnt happy.. Looks like an alright card, you know you're gonna get a good fight out of Guida/Gomi, plus Leben is always entertaining..

Yeah, it's alright. But that's the thing. It's the first card in 2011 in a post-WEC world. It should be amazing and it ends up being OK. :pinch: If UFC 124 ends up being as great as predicted, it will look even worse in comparison.
