Overeem's been destroying cans but still he destroyed Brett Rogers and Cro-Cop in the first round, Brett beat Arlovski and went 2 rounds with Fedor; Cro-Cop went 3 rounds with Dos Santos and Frank Mir and yet Overeem destroyed them both in the first round I actually believe Overeem wouldn't do to badly in the UFC he'd lose to Brock and the wrestlers but I believe he'd beat most of the UFCs strikers.

Don't forget that by MMAth, JDS beat Fedor :p

Ubereem is making too much money picking up titles in Japan to go to the UFC. I hope he doesn't end up like Fedor, passing a payday of a lifetime for a superfight with Brock and ending up losing his bargaining potencial. Maybe he'll go around picking up HW titles in B-League organizations for a collection of belts. I can just picture it in my mind: Ubereem Tachi Palaces Fights, Shark Fights and Impact FC HW champion.

Or maybe he will fight decent competition in Strikeforce (LOL?).

Strikeforce is supposedly putting together a HW tournament that will feature all of their 4! interesting HW. Probably won't happen in the end because a) M-1 won't let Fedor fight. b) Barnett won't get his licence back. c) Both of the above d) All of the above and something else.

Yeah and Strikeforce wanted to do a tourney in one night, but the athletic commissions in the US won't let them.

Strikeforce has some good heavyweights it'd be a decent card just a shame it'll never happen; I feel sorry for Scott Coker he has decent fighters who just don't give a **** about Strikeforce and who'd rather be fighting elsewhere, can kind of understand why Dana requires all fighters to sign a contract saying they'll only fight for the UFC.

Josh Barnett vs Andrei Arlovski (Arlovski coming in from 3 losses in a row to other guys in the tournament and Josh not having a licence due to steroids. LOL).

Fabricio Werdum vs Brett Rogers (Werdum taking a step down in competition fighting a guy that was beaten twice in a row by, well, two other guys in the tournament).

Alistair Overeem vs ? Seriously? Who is the can that they are going to bring in to fight Ubereem? Every other decent SF HW is already spoken for so... I'm thinking it will be Herschel Walker (LOL?) or even Bobby Lashley (LOL^2). Seriously, just look at the Strikeforce HW roster and take a pick.

Also notice that the only way that Overeem and Fedor fight is in the finals because they are in the opposite brackets. If this was being organized in Japan I would say it would be fixed to the eyeballs for a Ubereem vs Fedor final.

From DREAM? Overeem became their HW champion just like that at Dynamite!! 2010. And the other guy who could end up champion was Duffee. The DREAM HW is stacked with freakshow fighters like Bob Sapp and Hong Man Choi. Maybe they pick Minowaman. He would lose because he can only beat freak fighters (heel hooking the heck out of them) but it would at least be fun.

No, Duffee never even went to Japan before. But maybe he will have a future fighting there. His chin does need some work. Ubereem knocked him out cold.

Lashley was also in talks to fight but asked for more money than Duffee to show up and even more to "win" (like that would have happened).

Strikeforce continues to use their bizarro MMA rules, making a HW tournament where only 2 guys aren't riding in losing streaks. Now that I think about it, maybe they'll pick up Duffee for another can smashing by Ubereem.

Seems like they scrapped the Josh Barnett fight. Andrei Arlovski will be fighting Sergey Kharitonov. One less possibility for the Overeem fight. Maybe they'll make him fight his can crushing 28-25 brother. :laugh:

As we reported earlier, Strikeforce has finally locked down the services of Russian MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko after months of frustrating back-and-forth negotiations. Emelianenko's manager, M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein, told Sherdog.com today that the new deal is for four fights.

"We were working on [the deal] for a long time. Even before his last fight, particularly when he had one fight left, everyone was interested in [continuing] the relationship [between M-1 Global and Strikeforce]," Finkelchtein told Sherdog. "It was just a matter of making sure that everyone was happy. We got there, and I'm very thankful for it.

"What Fedor wanted was not out of the ordinary. It was just a matter of security and for him to feel like, if he performed the way to which he is accustomed, that certain things would [be] guaranteed. It was just a matter of both sides respecting each other."

Emelianenko has been out of action since taking what most consider to be his first legitimate loss: a first round submission defeat to Fabricio Werdum dating back to June 26th of last year. Following that loss, Emelianenko's management company, M-1 Global, sought to rework the current details of "The Last Emperor's" contract.

"A lot was written about Fedor considering retirement, and that was not true," said Finkelchtein. "As long as he had the strength and God gave him the health to perform, he wanted to continue. The current deal has some 'ifs' and 'whens,' but it's basically a four-fight deal."

Emelianenko will return to action against Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva this February 12th at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Their bout will act as part of Strikeforce's planned heavyweight tournament, which is expected to pit Strikeforce heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem against Werdum, Andrei Arlovski against Sergei Kharitonov, and Brett Rogers against Josh Barnett. Finkelchtein noted that they had not picked Silva as an opponent.

"No one particular person called for [silva as an opponent]. It just turned out that way logically. It's a tournament featuring eight of the best heavyweight fighters in the world, and they've all proved themselves," he said. "Some of them, Fedor has already met, and Silva is one he hasn't met before. Silva has proved himself, and the fans have said he is a credible opponent."

"I have been training very hard since my last fight and can't wait to get back in the cage," said the 6-foot, 235-pound Emelianenko. "Strikeforce has assembled a roster filled with the best heavyweights in the world and, together with M-1 GLOBAL, we have the opportunity to fight the best in a great tournament format."

Fedor's unprecedented, record-setting run of 28 professional MMA bouts without a defeat had prompted many MMA enthusiasts to label Fedor as the greatest of all time. Since his career began 10 years ago, Fedor has faced and defeated many rival superstars and champions of this era including Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic, Andrei Arlovski and Mark "The Hammer" Coleman.

The streak ended at the hands of Werdum, who trapped Fedor's arm in a triangle armbar that forced Fedor to tap out at the 1:09 mark of the opening round.

Fedor has only one other official loss on his record, the result of a doctor stoppage due to a cut he sustained seconds into a matchup with Japan's Tsuyoshi Kosaka on Dec. 22, 2000. Fedor avenged the TKO loss with his own first-round TKO of Kosaka at a PRIDE Fighting Championships event in Japan on April 3, 2005.

The Strikeforce World Grand Prix: Heavyweight Tournament quarterfinals begin Feb. 12, and will air live on Showtime.

Have there been any news about the UFC LW guys that decided to cut to more natural weights like FW or even BW now that the LW is overflowing with talent? I can think of a couple of guys who would fit at FW like a glove.

Goes to show that if you talk the talk you better walk the walk. 7 years without losing doesn't mean much to the UFC if you put on a snoozefest like that and end up losing. He would probably stay for another fight if he wasn't in the LW division that is currently overflowing with exciting talent. But let's face it, if you lose to a guy like Jacob Volkmann that is pretty on the bottom of the division, you have no where else to go.

Vera also got cut but that was pretty much expected after losing 3 in a row by getting totally annihilated.

Overeem 'Surprised' Strikeforce Made Such Lopsided Tournament Brackets

Even Ubereem knows that Strikeforce is shooting their foot with the brackets. In the first 2 rounds only 1 out of Fedor, Ubereem and Werdum will carry on. Maybe they will only be doing the 1st bracket because the rest will crumble.
