Watched through it all just now. Pretty much echoing what everone here's already said: poetic justice for Brandao, Rousey was a disrespectful bitch after her fight, and Anderson...  :omg: I was watching it with my dad and I've never seen him recoil in horror so much when we saw what happened to his leg! That action shot vcfan posted on the last page was even worse.  :| I saw Silva wasn't doing any of the showboating he did in the first fight; he was taking it seriously this time. That kick showed how much effort and power he was putting in, and that was such an unfortunate end to the fight, and maybe also the career of what many would consider to be the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

Rousey has earned the right to be bitchy, all her career opponents and critics have been giving her ###### and she's taken it all in stride, she beat Tate twice now, eventually it gets tiring of being the nice one when everyone is out to get you, hell she was being criticized even when being nice, so why not be nasty once in a while?

why cant anyone defend against rouseys armbars? is she really that good? or is it a lack of skill in women fighters? I wouldn't be so skeptical if it wasn't the finish in every single rousey fight.

but I gotta say, those judo throws were something else. just wow. so strong.

I suppose, never heard a champ get booed so much - was quite funny.

Until UFC sign that beast from Invicta (Cant think of her name right now) i cant see anyone beating Rousey

Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino. She was signed to the UFC but left because they wouldn't give her a fight at 145. She can't make 135 so that point is moot anyway. Ronda herself is interested in Holly Holm (big hype train). Marloes Coenen would also be an interesting challenger if the UFC picked her up.

Don't fear the guy with 10000 moves. Fear the guy that has done one move 10000 times. Ronda has pretty much perfected every variation of the armbar, every sweep to it, every reversal. If she gets you into the position, you're toast 90% of the times. Your gameplan must be to avoid it at all costs. Much like Alan Belcher when he fought Toquinho, you can only defend to a certain point. After that, you must neutralize that advantage in any way possible.

Tate's gameplan was terrible. She should've stopped trying to take Ronda down immediately after the first throw. If she was going to keep trying, she should've switched to a single or an ankle pick instead of a double leg.

Women fighters are like every other fighter: some are great overall, some are one-dimensional, and some have big holes in their game. The next fight Ronda has lined up should be interesting as Sara McMann is a silver medalist in wrestling. Her ground game is top notch. There's also Cat Zingano waiting in the wings. It's too bad that she didn't get the next crack at it but she must still be rehabbing her knee. Watch Zingano vs Tate on The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, it's a great fight and display all of their skill set.

With the 115lb division coming along, they should also recruit Jessica Aguilar. She'll probably be smart, skip TUF, and sign up later for a better deal (despite the Invicta - TUF deal being quite sweet in guaranteed money).

that's my point. why is everyones gameplan terrible. everyone knows her strengths, and everyone knows she will try to finish with the armbar. why hasn't anyone cracked this?

Because the few weaknesses she had were worked on, look at Tate;s face after that fight, not only will Rhonda rip your arm out, she can now beat you to a pulp while getting there, she also absorbed Tate's best shots and was pushed to the third round, it's going to take a damn good fighter or a huge mistake on her part to beat Rousey for the foreseeable future

Because it's a fight. It's not a one-sided deal. Quoting the great Joe Louis: "Every fighter's got a plan until they get hit."

Ronda fights to her strengths. To beat her, you have to neutralize her gameplan AND implement yours, she won't simply roll over if you successfully defend an armbar. She certainly has other submissions but favors that one. Don't think she won't take that triangle from the bottom if you leave it available. She has continuously shown her ability to adapt during the fight and change her approach in order to secure the win. Miesha didn't show that ability to adapt and got tossed around for her troubles. Julie Kedzie almost beat Tate in Strikeforce before she pulled a miracle armbar out of thin air. Tate's game isn't evolving and that is costing her fights. She needs to switch training camps or put more work in with TAM.

the reason im theorizing is because to get an armbar, there is great risk in losing position. because the book has been out on her for awhile, you would think someone would focus majorily on capitalizing on these opportunities. so the question I asked earlier is, is it because she is just that damn good? or is there a lack of skill in this area on capitalizing on these openings? it seems both of you are to the opinion that it is her skillfull abilities that enable her to pull off her signature move every single time. that's fine, thats what I wanted to discuss, and get some opinions.

She really is that good, and improving, she's still very young and will only get better, her competition will have to majorly step up if anyone really wants to beat her, simple as that, remember Tyson in his heyday? Everyone knew what he was going to do and yet he still knocked people out every time, same thing here, some are just for a while literally the best at their games

She has the skill and the power to enforce her will. Think of her as the female Paul Harris but with better fight IQ. She knows how to pick her spots and generally goes for an armbar from mount. When she goes for an armbar from the bottom, her opponents generally defend with hand on hand but by then she already has her legs over their head and has perfect leverage. Being an Olympic level judoka certainly doesn't hurt her chances. But now is where the fun beings. All of her opponents have been only averagely skilled in the grappling department. Sara McMann is a whole different thing. She has the size and grappling credentials to make this an interesting fight. The only issue is that she may still be too green in the MMA game for this level of fight. She's also 7-0 but her best wins are Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler, both recently beaten by Alexis Davis. I think Zingano poses the greatest challenge since her striking is better and can tag Ronda on her way in.

What people dont understand is that Tate insulted her family - some people take it in stride others do not. I think if Tate is going to stoop to that level she cant cry and bitch when Ronda refused to shake her hand, for what it's worth she did compliment her fighting afterwards in an interview. Shes also only been like this to Tate... she has been nice and cool with the others she's fought in the past.. these two just have some real beef with one another. I love Rhonda because she's an amazing fighter and her ability to adapt her style and impose her will makes her that good..it's not that she's fighting weak women mma fighters - she's simply on an entire different level

She's been working on it since she was 13 i believe...ever since she started Judo - as i said above - her level of judo is above everyone else

Clearly we saw who took more time to train and work on their weaknesses and it wasn't Tate, going for Rousey is only going to get you slammed and submitted - I'm surprised as much as she kept coming after her she didn't screw up and lose in the 1st again.

the spider is coming back, according to his boxing coach.

He's super good. Said that in three months to six months he's coming back, I can train normal. He's good, he's quiet. I think if the fight never happened. In the third round was coming back a Anderson Silva stronger, more agile, faster. And certainly would seek a knockout or a victory-said

Three to six months? That's clearly wishful thinking. Corey Hill was 30 years old when he destroyed his leg and took a year. GSP took over a year to recover from his knee injury. 2015 is a more realistic return date.

If he comes back, and that's a big IF that only Anderson can answer, who will he fight in the MW division? He's in a weird spot right now and the division will (finally) move forward without him.
