.Neo
And let's all hope they fix the stupid bug preventing me from syncing my iPod 5G. :( Unlikely that's a bug caused by Mac OS X itself, but rather of your hackintosh install. DeadEndAccount
Now its fixed, new glview released... max supported is 3.2http://www.realtech-vr.com/glview - pixel formats does not work correctly (will be fixed later) - rendering test doesn't work anymore (will be fixed later) - memory info incorrect (will be fixed later?) I've just installed 'Preview 2' and I have an early 2008 iMac which has a ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro and it is supported; one then to remember is to select from the drop down menu 'renderer' option three which is has '(forward context)' after your video card. IMHO it is pretty good that Apple is willing to provide OpenGL 3.2 on hardware that is over 3 years old. Interesting enough the software renderer isn't fully 3.2 yet so I guess Apple is focusing on the hardware side of the equation first and then moving onto the software side later on. Btw, Preview 2 so far has been rock solid on my MacBook and iMac, the performance is very fast, QuickTime X is very stable and incredibly low CPU utilisation when playing back h264 movies, I've even become a little daring and installed Flash 10.3 Beta version to see what it is like playing back YouTube videos; it has dropped from 27% down to 10.2% which is pretty good, only 4 points above what I see with QuickTime which is pretty good in my books. The_Decryptor Veteran Posted April 13, 2011 Veteran Share Posted April 13, 2011 You're still limited by hardware, my GFX card only supports OpenGL 2.1, but using the forward context makes the level jump up to 3.2. Of course, since the hardware is only 2.1, the 3.2 level stuff doesn't actually work. If anything, I think the GL level changing when switching to the forward context is a bug, all it's supposed to do is inform the driver that you don't want to use the old fixed function API, it shouldn't enable new features. How do you know your hardware is limited to 2.1? When nVidia says, "OpenGL 2.1" you do realise that in the Windows world they are the ones who provide the OpenGL software stack - it could support more than OpenGL 2.1 but they're only inclined to support up to OpenGL 2.1 and yet these same bits of hardware support up to DirectX which means they are OpenGL 3.x capable but not supported to OpenGL 3.x by the said hardware vendor. The Radeon GPU for example is OpenGL 3.x capable, the nVidia 9400M is artificially crippled to OpenGL 2.1 but can support OpenGL 3.x features if the OpenGL stack is written to support the hardware. The_Decryptor Veteran Posted April 13, 2011 Veteran Share Posted April 13, 2011 Yeah, it is the 9400M. It does say that the card supports OpenGL 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 features, just not all of them (and switching to the forward context makes those jump too 100% instead of 40%, etc.) But as mentioned, none of it worked, it can't even iterate through the available display modes. Well it is work in progress so I guess it is a matter of playing the waiting game to see how things turn out at the end of the day. I'm not to fussed for me given that I'm scheduled up to upgrade my iMac but it would be frustrated if the 9400M is hung out to dry because it seems kind of strange that a GPU can support OpenCL but can't run OpenGL 3.x. I wonder though whether there will be a Preview 3 before Lion is launched because I've just given Preview 2 a go and it still needs some work to smooth off the rough edges. Minor update to DP2, which is odd when Xcode 4.1 Preview 3 references DP3. Quillz
Well, once I boot back into my Lion install, I'll upgrade. Hopefully it fixed a few more bugs that I've noticed in DP2. Maux76
hello boys. I'm a new Mac user and I have new macbook pro 2011 with snow leopard as first MAC. After three weeks of use it , I love all of Mac Osx. But the Only features that not have snow leopard and that I hope Apple get in Osx Lion FINDER is:: Multitabs Finder for very easy drag and drop. And also Cut-Move features on Finder. It's possible to have this small features in osx Lion finder???? Because this is the only features that I love after i have switch from windows 7 to Mac osx ! Windows 7 don't have multitabs file manager , ok , but have Snap feature that allow to speed up drag and drop from a window to another window . This is possible to Mac osx Lion Finder ????? I hope !!!!! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/947186-mac-os-x-lion-discussion/page/53/#findComment-593894346 Share on other sites

Yes, it's a plug-in so it would have to be updated for Lion. Path Finder has a feature that totally replaces the Finder, I think DragThing can do it, too. PyX
This update still doesn?t do it for me : They?ve changed iCal?s color for something less saturated, but it still doesn?t look good. When I click on the zoom/maximize button, sometimes it doesn?t do anything, sometimes it zooms, sometimes it maximizes... I hope they?re really going for the maximize button. I?m not against that it doesn?t work in an alpha version, but I?m scared that they?re reverting back their decision about it. Windows that appear and disappear now have too many animations : scale, pop and fade. Where?s the uniformity in this? Someone posted a graphic with OpenGL 3.x support being nearly finalized. This is far from being the case in this version, as it lacks a good dozen of modules. I don?t accept that TextEdit is still not updated. LaunchPad is still heavily flawed : First of all, I haven?t found the X button to remove applications I haven?t found out how to move apps from page to page The clickable areas to move from page to page is not big enough. When I hold an app for so long, they all begin to shake. Why, if it doesn?t bring anything new? I really hope they?re holding another branch in their labs that contains new features that will be demonstrated at WWDC. Developer Preview 1 surprised me a lot for its new interface elements and astonishing alpha stability, but the only two builds past that have been a let down for me. Lunfai
They?ve changed iCal?s color for something less saturated, but it still doesn?t look good. Screw the new design, and bring back a uniform style First of all, I haven?t found the X button to remove applications Only ones you download, I think!, like iPhone I haven?t found out how to move apps from page to page. -> When I hold an app for so long, they all begin to shake. Why, if it doesn?t bring anything new? On my iPhone I can re-arrange the tiles of the apps, when you hold down (apps shake) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/947186-mac-os-x-lion-discussion/page/53/#findComment-593895210 Share on other sites
