Argi
You can set the scroll bars to "Always visible" in System Preferences > Appearance. Problem solved. Ah, if that's the case then that's great! Lion's shaping up quite nicely - can't wait to get it onto my MBP. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/947186-mac-os-x-lion-discussion/page/54/#findComment-593895296 Share on other sites
PyX
What would you need in a TextEdit update that it doesn't already do? A new GUI overhaul. I?m not asking for features specifically, because that would never be the end of it and that?s why Pages and Word are there for. First of all, I?ve seen better preference panes than this : Then, get rid of all those triangles above the rule, they?re confusing the hell out of me. Default tabulations are never shown in other apps. Put a rule on the left too. Make a toolbar that is graphically uniform to the rest of OS X, and that you can customize (add / remove buttons) if necessary. I?ve seen a very nice little formatting popup lately on the App Store, if only I could find it again... anyways, the toolbar should fix this problem. .Neo
I honestly still don't get what Apple's trying to do with the window animations... It seems horror to me if window animations are handled on a per-app basis. :/ System 9 lives! "System 9" never existed. ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/947186-mac-os-x-lion-discussion/page/54/#findComment-593896686 Share on other sites
Lunfai
~snip Are the markers in Textedit just markers or do they actually serve a purpose? I've always been wondering why it doesn't move onto the next line automatically when using the (left handed triangle) to indicate the end of the line, if it's just a marker to remember where I should start a new line, do they really need four markers?.. Well the ones that are there by default on the ruler are : - Where a new line of text starts - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the next tabulation will bring the cursor - Where the line of text ends These "tabulations" are never shown by default in other word processing applications. DootDootMan
I know that I am a little late in the discussion but, why doesn't Apple allow the OS to be installed directly on a PC? I don't see them losing market share- only gaining it. I mean, Apple provides a way to install Windows on a Mac but not the other way around? Just my 2 cents. Xtreme $niper
Actually, it's pretty much ALIVE! I think what he meant was it was called OS 9, not System 9. Especially considering just how off-topic that would be. The simplest way to end the conversation early is to say that Apple is a hardware company, not a software company. It just so happens that they also make an OS to go along with their hardware. Apple benefits nothing from allowing users to install their OS on whatever PC they'd like. Moving on. Quillz
After installing the update, I noticed three minor changes: iOS-style auto-correction now seems to be showing up in Safari. Previously, I only noticed this in TextEdit. The traffic light bug in iCal has been fixed. The traffic lights now respect the system-wide Graphite setting. It could be just my eyes, but it seems that the inactive window look has been altered very slightly. Take a look at an inactive Safari window and notice the text, it seems a bit flatter than before. PyX
Blehhh, the Graphite traffic lights on the new iCal are really ugly, and the loupe is misplaced in the search field. I hope they will update the look of the application, it?s better than before but I can?t get used to it. Xtreme $niper
Can someone confirm if there is in fact a 4-finger swipe gesture that can be set to switch spaces in the Trackpad settings? I don't care for BetterTouchTool but I found this recently and it seems interesting (http://www.jitouch.com/index.php?page=jitouch) but I don't want to install it if the feature I want is already coming without third party software. Rudy
How so? Probably small things like proper scroll bars, full screen support etc etc I might be buying a new Macbook Air today and if I do I'll be able to install Lion again :) If Chrome has the new scrollbars that might be enough for me to switch at least temporary ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/947186-mac-os-x-lion-discussion/page/54/#findComment-593915894 Share on other sites

The more I stare at this MBP, the more I realize how huge of a beast it is (in width, not thickness). Being 16:10, it may as well be equivalent to a 16:9 17" laptop. Sometimes I miss my 13"... I'd try Lion but I think I have enough patience to not spend $99 on a developer license and just wait for the retail release... Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/947186-mac-os-x-lion-discussion/page/54/#findComment-593916076 Share on other sites
