Fusion OS

Recommended Posts

I've been using Imageshack for all my screen shots now and in the past, even in quite a few threads you were active in, and never heard you complain before. As long as you use the direct link I don't see anything wrong with it.

That's because the screenshots are clear and quite small - in comparison to Fusion OS concepts where they are quite large, so I have to click to zoom in and clicking pops open a new tab and sends me straight to Imageshack, where I still can't get a larger version of the image. Hope that's cleared a few things up.

Thats when the poster uses the wrong link to post the image

If the direct link is used the image shows perfectly

yeah, i have to agree, i don't like the way imageshack handles things anymore, i personally primarily use photobucket now

I've been posting full screen shots and photos without a problem as well. And again, if you use the direct link you don't have to use the website's zoom and you won't see any ads.

Here's an example (note the resolution):

Anyway, this has nothing to do with the topic.

Hello,

I have been reading through all of this and have come to a conclusion that what needs to happen is that the Fusion OS team needs to get more organized and get the entire interface completed before releasing another Beta. So here is what is going to happen. Since people seem to like the latest concept image and the minimalisticness of it I am going to take it in that direction. I am pulling the beta build that is up there now since all it is really showing is a stripped down system of Ubuntu, I admit that. So I am going to start coding again from scratch Ubuntu latest build. I am pegging the updated beta for April 10th, 2011. That date is firm, and will not change I will personally make sure we have all the needed progress done. I will post more on this later and the build will be pulled tonight at 5:00PM EST. We are really trying please do not lose faith in this project what is really hurting us is lack of volunteers and organization.

Thanks,

- Keith

You could ask yourself if this project has any long-term viability and if it will ever gain the same level of support as Ubuntu provides. My guess would be no.

Why not downsize the project to offer a nice streamlined interface package for existing popular Linux distributions? That way you can focus on the interface entirely without the hassle of maintaining an entire operating system including updates, software and support. Not to mention you'll probably reach more people.

In six months nothing materialized that's worth using. Not to mention the fact we haven't even seen a refined concept that truly shows in what direction the interface is heading. Clearly this project, in its current form at least, isn't going anywhere. That's why I'm suggesting the above.

I can help with graphic design if you want.

That would be great! I have seen some of your work before and you are truly talented. I will send you a PM tomorrow with some more details, I hope more people we be as willing to help out as you are! Thanks so much. :)

There's no point in exactly copying everything either as the product already exists. This offers no immediate advantages over the other.

Sure it does. It has the underpinnings of Linux, and the familiarity factor of Windows.

I would suggest waiting on the new build available soon. This build just previews the system not the interface, the new build will have many improvements over this one.

Just had a look at the site for Fusion OS... i see Beta 1 is available? and you mention above to rather wait for the next build? Just curious..

Do you have a guestimation of when the new build is coming? Am rather keen to get onboard and test it on multiple devices for you... i have a test bench of about 20 different laptops and a couple of desktops to play with...

Lookin good so far... :)

So how much did it cost you to get that "fusion certified solution" logo registered? must have a lot of money just laying around...... if not (I sure cant find it in the trademark system) get that R mark off there

While I see your point, and lying is naughty.. Why do you care? Do you want to register it? If not, let the kid have some fun. Not sure why you actually took the time to go and check to see if it's legitimately trademarked, don't you have other things you could be doing? Hell I put © beside every piece of software I write. Even if it's not copy written.

why do I care? because I work with stuff like that....... besides just putting the mark there means nothing, someone could still register that and now sue them for infringing

Sure it does. It has the underpinnings of Linux, and the familiarity factor of Windows.

In this case I don't see how that's beneficial compared to just running Windows. Not to mention the familiarity factor is purely superficial, in the end the OS will still work differently.

so more about the OS would be nice, what is this based on, what support do you provide, you have forms for help? what about drivers?

i would like to see this start out as a sort, Visual style for ubuntu. something along this lines of this

this would be a great way to get people on-board with your goals. doing a complete OS is a big job, and i think you will find your support your biggest part! good luck with think and ill be watching!

Hello,

I wanted to make a more advanced concept showing the window theme, and how the notification area will be and what it will look like when icons are "pinned" to the taskbar and opened. So without further ado here it is:

Thanks,

Since you have to click the arrow to see your notifications, what would happen if I got an email?

Does the notification arrow blink or something?

He doesn't need "permission" or actual registration with the Copyright Office to use the copyright symbol, that's his responsibility.
