OP, if you want to TRANSFER FILES, use the FILE TRANSFER option in TeamViewer - not to be rude but had you actually played round with TeamViewer you would have found it:

check reply #6 . I already mentioned that file transfer wizard is working fine. Its just the copy paste not working.

In fairness, I don't think he is:

I'm using teamviewer not logmein.

:pinch:

Yes, I understand that. However, the original problem was that you wanted to know if logmein free allowed you to copy text from one machine and paste it in to another. This topic isn't to do with you wanting to transfer files.

Eh, it doesn't matter. Apparently there are multiple solutions to the problem...whatever the problem is now.

He was clearly asking about copy text.. Which clearly works on teamviewer -- as per my screenshots.

Yet another not understanding what you can or not do and just assuming.. Who says you can not use remote desktop across the internet?? All you need is the port 3389 open inbound to your remote site.. And connect using the public IP.. Or for that matter just use the teamviewer or logmein vpn solutions, or for that matter any other vpn solution, even a ssh tunnel would work.. Remote desktop using one tcp port, 3389 by default -- you can use it over the internet just fine.

Thats the reason I told I can not use remote desktop. the machines are local not having public IP.

I understand your copy paste works somehow it does not work for me. Why this is not working for me , that is the query. For a quick check , what is your OS ?

Does both the machines have same OS ?

Do you have Clipboard.exe running as service ? ( my remote machine has windows 7 basic home and local windows vista)

"the machines are local not having public IP. "

Machine are local -- even easier to use remote desktop.. If you explain a bit more how these 2 machines are connected we can work out if you can use remote desktop??

As to the OSes in the screenshot. The homebox I was remoted too w7 ult x64, box connecting from xp sp3 (work box)

Um... there is no clipboard.exe in windows 7, nor a clipboard service..

Question for you -- test using your clipboard to the test machine in teamviewer.. You can connect by using 12345 in the connect to session screen, when you go to close teamviewer it will ask you if you would like to connect to test machine.

does this work??

It will popup a password for you to enter when you connect to 12345

I can do copy -paste from test machine in teamviewer....I have followed your screenshot instructions .

Why I can't do the same in my machine ? how to troubleshoot this ?

>>>>If you explain a bit more how these 2 machines are connected

two machines are just standalone machines. They just have net connection . These machines are not part of any network . They don't have public IP's.

I don't think we can do remote desktop here.

If they have an IP they are part of a network ;)

If they can access the internet - then they have a public IP somewhere off that network.. Ie to get to the internet they have to talk to a router somewhere, that router would change your private IP to a public one.. If you do not have control over this router then now you would not be able to allow remote desktop too them from the internet.

When you say here -- so these computers on at the same location?? On the same network?? Again if the machine has an IP, then its on a network.. If you can access it with teamviewer -- it has to be on a network ;)

What Im trying to understand is what network(s) they are on?? The same one - or different ones where you do not have control over the gateway/router that gets them on the internet. If on the same local network - then you should be able to just use remote desktop between them.

So copy/paste works to the test machine - so that points us to the machine your trying to remote too.. What OS is it running?
