[HTML/CSS] DIV Wrapper and CSS

Question

I'm at my wit's end trying to figure this out, even though I know someone will just come in here and prove how stupid I am. But considering I can't really think at the moment, I think it's best I ask for a second opinion. Right now, I've already designed a layout for a login page, which is displayed below:

Right now, no matter how I code my DIV's and wrapper, the whole design is screwed up. I'm looking at countless tutorials and help pages that my code has now become unusable. What I wanted to do was:

  1. Overlay the logo over the header bar, which should be possible using the position tag but somehow I can't get it right. The best thing I got was the logo overlapping the header bar but the header title then overlapping the logo.
  2. I don't really know how to position the DIVs to the left and right. I've done it so that it stays on one line but when I resize my browser window, it moves down even though it's in a wrapper.

Can someone just create a basic framework so I can just put in the elements or maybe point me to a tutorial that best explains this? As I said, I can't really think at the moment and I need it urgently  .

I would appreciate any help I can get from the community!

Thanks in advance,

Scirwode
