Holiday Offer from TechNet Subscriptions

Question

I just today received and email from Technet inviting me to get my Holiday Offer from Technet. It looks like this:

But when I click the link (the part of the message that says 'click here'), it brings me to the following page:

http://www.microsoft.com/click/technetplus/holiday/

When you click the little decoration that drops down, it simply brings you to the Technet Home Page. No offer or anything.

Has anyone else gotten this?

Did you not read the text on the decoration?

my decoration looks different. it has no code for a discount at all it just says "thank you for being a loyal technet subscriber. we wish you a happy holiday"

i'm not a technet subber btw.

Mine didn't say that at all. Maybe that's a special promo offer for those who don't already have TechNet Subscriptions. But then why would they send it as a thank you for those who are already valued TechNet Subscribers? Mine was this:

When I clicked on it, it just brought me to the TechNet Home Page. No other offer or anything. Of course, I don't know what I was expecting since I already have a subscription with them.

Well, that first screenshot was from IE9 beta. I just tried from Chrome, and got the same thing you did. Tried in Firefox and got a blank screen (probably because I have pretty much all scripting turned off in Firefox for browsing questionable sites).

Anyway, now you know the coupon code, go nuts!

edit: turned off my script blocking in Firefox and got the same as in Chrome. It seems Microsoft is playing favorites with IE on this offer!!

Maybe they make it available only for US & Canada IP addresses. I visited the site in IE9 and got the same message as before.

That makes sense, but that wouldn't explain why I only got the offer in IE9, but not in other browsers, from the same computer.

Read what it says in my earlier screenshot. That promo code is NOT for the Technet Subscription site, it is for the Microsoft Store. That's why you are getting the error saying the code isn't valid.
