Neo003 Posted November 28, 2010 Share Posted November 28, 2010 I don't think your TV is too high to mount kinect, actually I would prefer that since it give a really good angle if you don?t want to be too close to the TV and have lot of wiggle room. The other option might be that you drill two holes and attach kinect to an "L" shape Utility Bracket and then screw it into the TV itself, it has to be light weigh metal (black coating would be nice or just paint it black). The thing with having it that high is it makes it harder for it to track your legs. thenut Posted November 29, 2010 Share Posted November 29, 2010 First up, how did scotch tape get into this convo? :laugh: Just read back and saw that scotch tape has been used to good effect, but yeah, I'd have used electrical tape there. The motor is in the base, hence it's called a "motorised base". Obviously this moves the main part of the unit when the base is in a fixed position. But he wants the unit under the TV, so he would have to tape the top half of unit to the TV, thus rendering the motorised base useless, and disabling Kinects ability to adjust it self. I was being purposely nitpicky. :p Wouldn't need any tape if he bought one of those shelf kits you can find all over the place that mount right into drywall/ studs. That's what I did. Couple of bucks and it came with everything I needed to secure it to the wall. Kinect sits on that perch by its lonesome a few inches above the TV. Tracks me just fine. Something like this. Not holding my breath for satisfactory answers on this :rofl: More of a hardware limitation - for Kinect to work properly it really needs to have you entire body from head to toe within it's field of view. And they're using pretty standard lenses, so you'll need to be atleast 6 foot away, usually more if you're taller or you want it to work flawlessly. Changing the lenses wouldn't help too much seeing as there's still the the fact the the games and dashboard set their own individual minimum distance you have to be depending on what's going on in the game (as some games don't need to seethe entire body, maybe just your upper body, they can reduce the minimum distance). <img> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

He must work in the Xbox repair center :) (that is where it's located) BTW, I am not sure why people are putting all these contraptions on the top of their TV. In fact, I see that person with the cardboard has the same TV design as I do. I do feel his pain, my Big Button receiver is bluetacked on top my 42" Toshiba panel because the base is beveled and I have no where else in line of sight to place it.
