I agree that $25 isn't a significant saving, however Amazon aren't exactly gonna 'harass' people who opt for the Ad supported version. The indication is the ads will take the form of additional 'screensavers' - which are displayed when users aren't reading on the device. Assuming Amazon don't change the Firmware on the device you could, in theory, buy the cheaper one, jailbreak it, and remove the Ad Screensavers.
