+Xinok Subscriber² Posted December 19, 2010 Subscriber² Share Posted December 19, 2010 I was curious how fast some other members here can type. I found a good online speed test which we can all use as a benchmark. http://www.rapidtyping.com/online-typing-test.html Some people are having problems with the website, so here are a few alternatives: http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/ http://careerstep.com/site/free-typing-test http://www.typingtest.com/ My result was 105 wpm. brentaal
117 wpm 100% accuracy on first try I don't like the fact that you need to click "done" when you're done nor the fact that when I started typing the thing scrolled to the very bottom and I had to manually select the text box. I like this test better http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/ and I remember there being one where you can actually 'play' against others in real-time, but I don't know the name anymore... Fred 69
Mang, the scrolling put me off, as well as if you type one extra letter it throws off your accuracy for the rest :(

I love the 10 fast fingers ones. I was addicted at some point, lol. I remember getting around 135 WPM / over 700 CPM once. but usually I'm around the 115 WPM mark Just took this, 144 WPM / 610 CPM / 100 acc. Lemme try again :D

cork1958
Cripe! When I hit start, window started jumping all over the place. Had to scroll back up to the box, then it jumped again and had to scroll up again!! Never been able to type without looking at keys some even if I was a typist in the Army. Typed up discharges (DD Form 214), so HAD to always look at lines and could not make any mistakes, otherwise had to start the whole thing over. My mistake on this test was right at the beginning when I freaked out because page was bouncing all over!!

ThaCrip
it seems i am roughly in the 75 range (could be slower could be faster depending on what i am typing etc. but i would say my rough average is around 70) but i also don't type the 'official' way either so i suppose that could slow me down a little bit. but i guess it varies for me as if i type words i am fairly familiar with i can go pretty quickly but if i don't use keys or words i am to familiar with i am sure my speed drops off quite a bit but in general i consider myself a quick typer overall but nothing lighting speed for sure but i am sure i am somewhat capped due to i don't use the proper typing methods that they teach you in school back in the day but that just feels awkward to me which is why i never bothered using it. most of my speed just came from using a PC over the years, which is how i suspect most of us learn(?) ;) Parameter Your resultWPM (word per minutes) 71 CPM (char per minutes) 329 Accuracy (%) 98 that was on the 300-400 character stuff... so overall i would say i am in the ball park of 70. could be slower or noticeably faster depending on what i type. but i think either way i am surely under 90 no matter what. bottom line... i would say i fluctuate between 60-80 range from a ball park guess over a longer period of time which is nice to test for consistency ... i suspect i could briefly crack a little over 80 at times but in general i suspect my 'bottom line' is probably my general average between there. and in general... as long as i stick to general words without all that "? ! " etc etc" type stuff my speeds seems to stay on the higher side. it's when i drift off the general basic typing that my general speed takes a hit or typing words or letters i am not used to typing.
