Post your typing speed!

Recommended Posts

Here's my result:

WPM (word per minutes): 86

CPM (char per minutes): 361

Accuracy (%): 99

You have to select the text box and click done when your finished which reduces WPM (less time typing), but oddly enough I never learned to type using the home row. I use the my pointer, middle and ring fingers to type, then thumb for space and rarely if ever use my pinky fingers.....I usually hover my hands over the keyboard slightly if I am typing something longer than a few words and rarely rest my fingers on the keys, but I still type faster than anyone I know personally.

My result from fast-fingers:

You type 410 characters per minute

You have 74 correct words and

you have 0 wrong words

Basically 74 WPM with no errors (or at least no submitted errors, I did have to hit backspace a couple times). The reason it's a decent amount slower is because it is randomized, if I know what I am typing before I type it I can type a bit faster due to how I type.

Re-took the test knowing I had to click Done and click in the text box and got 102 WPM (86 before) with 100% accuracy. The 86 was when I was expecting to be able to type as soon as I hit Start though, so I typed a few letters, then went back and clicked in the text box and started over, so 102 is a bit more accurate.

WPM (word per minutes) 96

CPM (char per minutes) 405

Accuracy (%) 100

But I'm lying down in bed using a wireless keyboard :p

I'll do you one better. 90 WPM, sitting on my bed, with a wireless keyboard, with a dog in my lap. laugh.gif

I usually have tested typing speed with this one: http://careerstep.com/site/free-typing-test

I'm typically around 90-110.

WPM 102

CPM 423

Accuracy 84%

It's not often I have to copy something else that's already been written. I usually spend more time thinking about what I'm typing than actually typing...

Any of you find you need a little time to warm up to get into the rhythm of typing fast? It also kills me if I'm not using the keyboard I'm used to.

Also, when I hit the wrong key, hitting backspace and fixing it is like an instant reflex to me, that's why I'm so inaccurate w00t.gif

Agreed, the best way to do it is do this test a couple times so you know what you're going to be typing. Once you know what to type you will be much quicker than your first few tests.

117 wpm 100% accuracy on first try

I don't like the fact that you need to click "done" when you're done nor the fact that when I started typing the thing scrolled to the very bottom and I had to manually select the text box.

I like this test better

http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/

and I remember there being one where you can actually 'play' against others in real-time, but I don't know the name anymore...

Is this the one? http://play.typeracer.com/

I might be wrong but it seems that it counts everything after you make a mistake as an error?

For example, if this was what should have been typed:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.

And you got a single error

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, cvonsectetur adipiscing elit.

everything else is out of place, thus as far as the test is concered, wrong.

I'm not a fan of this test for the same reason.

Anyway, I managed to get 89WPM on my first try.

The reason I chose this test is because I like being able to see everything I have to type at once. I don't like it when I can only see a part of the text, or if the text moves or somehow animates / changes. I also like being able to backspace when I make a mistake!

Well, I updated the first post anyways with links to other typing tests a few of you posted.

I took the 10-fast-fingers test and got 97 WPM with 1 mistake.

80-90WPM on average. I don't really take note of these kinds of tests. Purely because no one types out text from another screen onto another screen. We copy and paste lol.

It's much easier, better and accurate to think/type from your head, and before you know it your fingers are working away.
