Introducing the Member badge

Thanks for the new badges, looks classy! (Y)

I'm just a member but I think Veteran badges should be a different color.

Yeah, it clearly saying "veteran" instead of "member" with a bright purple "+" in front of the name definitely isn't enough. Maybe they can make the veteran badge alternate between several bright colors and add a notification pop-up in the middle of the screen every time a member from that group posts something? :p

I would think just as MVC's have a distinction from members, a Veteran should as well. Just saying, seems a bit strange, especially when I feel as if I have earned the Veteran badge, just as much if not more so then they have earned the MVC badge (no knock against any MVC, just saying I survived the GH). So to not have any distinction, seems a bit off, especially when it can be something as simple as making the veterans badge closer to black with less greys.

With that said, it is just a color of a badge and I will go on as at the end of the day I know they hold no real significance, but I would think a little distinction has been earned. Perhaps I am mistaken.

While I agree that perhaps the veteran badge should perhaps be a little more noticeable, the term veteran is a bit of an misnomer purely because like myself and others, we have been here far longer than some who have the "title" veteran! Some people are staff for a week or two and suddenly they are "veterans"! Just my thoughts on this matter.

There are many ex staff that aren't Veterans because they weren't on staff long enough.

I agree that we might need to rethink the status of members that are still active for more than 5 years though.

Cool, thanks for the response!

I honestly never thought much of it as it applies to me either way regardless, meaning years as a member and some years spent on staff. But I do hear were you are coming from, it can indeed be a bit misleading, however I think it is simply just a way of stating said person has given their time, regardless of their years as a member, they gave their time to the site itself, hence they are a Veteran so to speak.

With all that said, I also really never gave it much thought until now as for me the term Veteran seems appropriate as I have been through some of the more famous Gamers Hangout wars and have made it out (barely) alive. laugh.gif

With all that said Neobond did say it was something he was looking at for members who have been members for over 5 years, so let's see what if anything happens. (Y)

Thank you sir. I actually noticed it even without even coming to this thread. (Y) Like I said at the end of the day it was not a huge deal at all, but I do appreciate the fast response and the fact it was taken care of.

Yes please.

I'd like to comment, now that everyone and anyone has a badge, why not remove the "group" part under the badge, isn't it quite redundant?

Also it would be nice if badge actually matched Name color, like mods and subs have it. (only veterans and normal members don't have colors in their names)

We decided long ago that colored names should stay reserved for Staff. The only exception is paid for Subs and otherwise a variation of Blue for Partners. Members & Vets change color based on the skin used, because there are a lot more of those groups and it keeps the site looking tidy as well.

Yes please.

Hmmm ok big boss :p IMO it wouldn't matter if normal members had colors as well. It would make the Hierarchy more complete ie:

Bosses

gmods

smods

normal users... colorless :p

What about the groups below the badge? (keeping in the whole tidy thing).
