amon91
To be honest I have one partition on my main drive, just one, along with another drive (not a partition, a whole different drive) for storage and backup. It works for me. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/965434-how-do-you-partition-your-hard-drives/#findComment-593552692 Share on other sites
alisalem
My drives: 2x230GB RAID0: Half for C and the other for D. C has all programs and game installs (Steam) while D has everything else. 1x500GB: Single drive for movies. 1x640GB: Single drive for extra movies, series, etc. 1x1TB: Backup drive for C & D. Movies can go to hell if any of the drives fail. devHead
Here's mine. My C: Drive is an Intel 80 GB SSD; all the others are part of 3 different HDDs. I like partitions, but I'm not as obsessive about having a lot like I used to be. Orange Battery
Ive got a couple of 1TB drives split into Partitions: Windows Desktop, My Docs etc, Large games, documents, photos, videos Stuff I would like to keep private.. Backup - where I store disk images of windows Makes it easy to restore Windows using 3rd party software and lock folders quickly. Its been this way since about 2003, the drives have got bigger but partitions stayed the same, it works for me so Im happy. strekship
I don't really bother with partitioning my drives. C drive is a 500GB Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ, and drive E is a 1TB SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ. I am in the process of moving some old files off of C and putting them on E. treemonster
i was lazy and iddn't want to do th emath to partition my boot hdd when i first installed windows on this pc, and i haven't felt the need to do partitions on it yet. i basically have everything but wow on my 1.5 tb hdd, and wow on my 60gb ssd. i think the next game to go on the ssd will be swtor. my old pc's single 250gb hdd was partitioned into rough 3rds: windows +docs games fraps and misc extra stuff. i always kept running out of data on my windows parition and my other two were almost always empty or half full at most. now i collect allot of funny pics and stuff and otherwise don't worry about how many games i have installed. nub
I only have a 200gb hdd. I originally had a partition about 40gb for Windows Xp install and the rest was for storage. The storage partitions got split sometime probably when installing linux. I was left with 2 storage partitions after I got rid of linux. I was then left with 2 storage partitions of about equal size. I stole about 20gb from the last one for Win7 installation, as I migrated over to win7 I increased win7 partition to 40gb and eventually reformatted xp drive (didn't need xp anymore, permissions were broke). So its a complete mess. Also my power supply died causing my hard drive to click on and off and now GParted won't let me edit my first storage partition because of bad sectors. The thing still works fine though. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/965434-how-do-you-partition-your-hard-drives/#findComment-593553086 Share on other sites
MR_Candyman
Every single drive has the full drive as one partition. IMHO it's stupid not to. If you want to organize everything, folders are the way to go Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/965434-how-do-you-partition-your-hard-drives/#findComment-593553092 Share on other sites

brentaal
I always partition the main HDD into two parts, one for System files the other for just about anything else. All the secondary drives have just one partition each. +Warwagon MVC Posted January 4, 2011 MVC Share Posted January 4, 2011 I don't really partition my drives. C: Main drive, the entire drive could crash and I really wouldn't care (569GB) D: TV Shows, Tech files (folder I keep all the stuff I care about it in. Also includes my Quickbooks data file), Application setup files, and a folder which has all my repair tools. (232GB) F: Mostly Windows, Office and game ISO's. (232 GB) S: A backup drive for all the TV shows and tech files on D: (298GB) G: Vmware images and Porn. (596GB) N: A 1 TB backup drive I put in my sata dock every month which backs up everything important on C,D and F. (1TB) On top of that I have a carbonite account which also backs up everything important on C as well as the tech files folder on D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/965434-how-do-you-partition-your-hard-drives/#findComment-593556132 Share on other sites
