Dane
So im trying to figure out if a 52mm uv filter will fit my 18-55mm lens? Some people say yes, others say no it has to be a 58mn flilter. Then others say 55mm flilter. Which is it?
thegnarlypanda
Usually lenses say on them which filter size they have. If you look directly down the lens there is (usually) writing around it, it'll probably say 18-55mm etc. If you can't find that post the make and model and any other helpful info and I'll see if I can find out for you! Buttus
it should have a "# ?" on the lens, that's the mm you need...
Dane
Thanks guys. Im at work right now so I don't have it wig me and I wanted to order one today before I go home. Its just the stock nikon 18-55. Ill check it later. Edit: I just went to nikons website, found the lens and it states its filter size is 52mm. So that works. I found a uv filter and polarizer for 20$ total.
Argote
For the 18-55 stock lens the filter size depends on the make. 52mm for Nikon and Pentax 55mm for Sony 58mm for Canon Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S DX VR Nikkor Pentax 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL II SMC DA Sony 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 DT SAM SAL-1855 Also, make sure the polarized you get is multi-coated and of decent quality, otherwise you might get some ghosting or other undesired effects.
