Ayepecks
I think it would be roughly the same if the favourites bar was off (for both). Either way, we're talking about being a handful of pixels off and I think this whole space discussion is a non-issue. I think you're missing the point of his post. People were saying Internet Explorer 9 used up more space than all the other browsers, when it actually uses less than all the other browsers, even if it is just a few pixels. Someone just posted an image to show that. GJVC
BTW there is a recent comparison from meet firefox 4 thread , felt as if i shld share it here A lot of people seem to forget that everyone of those browsers except IE9 has 2 layers of toolbars. So where everyone can fit two horizontal layers, IE9 can only fit one. I like my tabs on top Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/970922-new-ie9-rc-build-screenshots/page/4/#findComment-593644930 Share on other sites
PyX
QuickTime X is a good example. Could work for a web browser as well. I really like the idea actually... Same here, could be very nice. But your cursor would always be on the webpage, we?d need another way to make the controls appear :p All I can say about IE9 is that Microsoft really has the worst browser interface since they released IE7, and judging by those screenshots, it?s not going to change. George P Global Moderator Posted January 29, 2011 Author Global Moderator Share Posted January 29, 2011 Maybe my version is different than yours then, because I get this... Denis W. Veteran Posted January 29, 2011 Veteran Share Posted January 29, 2011 I think you're missing the point of his post. People were saying Internet Explorer 9 used up more space than all the other browsers, when it actually uses less than all the other browsers, even if it is just a few pixels. Someone just posted an image to show that. Fair enough. Maybe my version is different than yours then, because I get this... I used the maximized states above. OT: it appears they finally fixed up the favourites bar background, judging from your screenshot. Biotoxic_hazard_835
I liked the beta tabs better, looked nice rounder. +1. I think we'll have to wait for the RC to see what is really going to look finally. Athernar
I agree for touch users. For mouse users, there's a really small slim area that still allows users to drag the window down from being maximized. This is a middle ground between the approaches Microsoft and Google/Mozilla are taking. I understand what you're trying to say, but what seems simple to us will not be to the average user. Remember that Windows is marketed to everyone, not just us computer "elite". Guest xiphi
Why are we still having this argument about which browser takes up less space? Just press F11 on your default browser and be done with it. osm0sis
I think we'll have to wait for the RC to see what is really going to look finally. I think we might get our wish judging by this screenshot in the latest IEBlog post: The new tab and address bar buttons are similar to the 8073.6003 RC Escrow leak, but if you zoom in you see the tabs are slightly rounded again. :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/970922-new-ie9-rc-build-screenshots/page/4/#findComment-593648590 Share on other sites
George P Global Moderator Posted February 1, 2011 Author Global Moderator Share Posted February 1, 2011 You're right, but so is the address bar it seems. Or at least it does to me. Only time will tell, 10th isn't that far off. Robbie Khan Reviews Posted February 10, 2011 Reviews Share Posted February 10, 2011 It's certainly an ugly UI for a browser, even though I never use IE I was sick a little bit in my mouth.
