I never got such email, lots of others have though but which country do you live in? I live in Canada.

US-East

Though this email did come soon after I used VPN to unlock the game. So not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I know. I'm just being paranoid, I don't exactly have a lot of disposable cash to rebuy the game these days. :s

I didn't get that email either, but I didn't buy it through Origin though.

I am going to wait, a few more hours aint gonna hurt. :D

I think I will eventually get the email maybe an hour from now.

I have a question for the pre-order stuff, The weapons you get can be unlocked by gaining exp points if you dont pre-order the game or will it be some DLC pack later on this year?

The pre order bonus unlocks can be unlocked just by playing the game. Yes. The back to karkand weapons I'm not so sure about though.

Does anyone know if the Back to Karkand expansion pack is included in the limited edition? From what I've read, you have to pre-order it to get it at no extra charge and that's what I did at a local EB Games. However, I was told by a customer rep that I couldn't get it and that I'd only get the physical warfare pack.

Unless there's a standard edition of BF3, it doesn't make sense to not include the expansion pack in the limited edition.

I've always understood Karkand as the main reason for being "Limited Edition".

It should be all part of the same package. Having to preorder Karkand is completely alien to me.

Back to Karkand Expansion Pack (included with the Limited Edition)

This themed expansion pack includes:

•Four Legendary Maps from Battlefield 2 re-imagined with Frostbite Technology

•Classic Battlefield 2 Weapons and Vehicles

•Unique Rewards, Achievements/Trophies, and more

I suppose one benefit to people unlocking the game 12 hours early is that they've already rooted out a connection error.

yeah but all it's doing is ****ing them off and going to make a smooth launch that much harder...

That's what I hoped for but it isn't what I read initially. When the expansion pack was first announced, it was advertised as a pre-order bonus when it actually comes with the limited edition. It's something I missed but I'm not alone. A lot of gaming news sites picked up on the story that it was strictly a pre-order bonus.

Q: Is the Back to Karkand expansion pack exclusive to pre-orders?

A: No. You can also buy it separately if you do not pre-order Battlefield 3. Back to Karkand will be available the exact same date after the launch of Battlefield 3 no matter if you pre-ordered or buy it separately.

Q: How much does the Back to Karkand Expansion pack cost?

A: We have not yet announced a price. However, it will be included in the Limited Edition at no extra charge.

I'm going to pick up the X360 version at midnight so I really hope it's the limited edition.

Anaron, technically, it ISN'T exclusive since you are able to purchase it later on.

But yes, it's a bonus launch exclusive since you're not paying for it. :D

But it IS part of the Limited Edition. That I am certain of.

There's noway anyone can tell you that you'd have to preorder it separately being you own the limited edition.

I'm pretty sure anyone could walk into a store weeks after release and still pick up "limited edition" copies.

It happened with BFBC2. Cousin walked in almost a month later and picked it up. Same launch unlocks/features.

True; however, you'll have to buy it once the limited edition copies run out. As you said though, you'll most likely find copies of it for weeks.

I selected Repair and it appears to be downloading a 48.1 MB patch on my end.

I did that and now origin is stuck in a loop of updating and installing. Fantastic.

This is going to lead to me somehow having to redownload and install the entire game again, I just know it.

I'm at the stage where I'm sitting here laughing insanely at the situation!

Luckily, I backed up the BF3 game folder onto an external.I'm copying it back in and trying that.

If that doesn't work; I'll reinstall Origin.

Edit:

The backup I made worked. I just had to unlock the game all over again via vpn.

It's this crap that makes me not play PC games.
