that's how i feel about the game so far, but to millions of people out there, i'm sure that's fine with them. Also in my mind this game doesn't exist to me because it's not on steam.

It would be fine to me, too, but there are SO many of this type of game now and over the past 10 years - it's getting tiresome :(

I just can't help but feel BF3 will feel and play very similar to BF2 and BF1942 but with posher graphics.

Well a lot of fans want that. BF2 and 1942 were damn good games. Adding some polish to that style and upping the graphics 100 fold makes this the great game it is.

BF3 ????? [COD]MW3

$100 says MW3 owns them sales wise? actually, taking that bet would be stupid because even EA themselves know that by pulling the release date out of november after talking all that garbage.

What do you expect, King Mustard? BF3 will be a military based FPS with focus on teamwork, objectives and vehicles. So in that sense, yes, it will definitely be like previous BF games. I don't think you can do any substantial changes to that and still call it "Battlefield".

@rajputwarrior

Every crackhead knows that MW3 will beat BF3 sales-wise. Even EA themselves have admitted that CoD will sell more. Now, which will be the higher quality game though... (Answer - I don't know. Personally I don't really care about CoD and won't buy it anyway).

I personally hope it does. More refined, with better graphics, count me in.

Really? Name another game besides Bad Company 2 that has a "similar" style of play that is a recent game? Don't say CoD because they are nowhere close. Some games have tried to clone the feel and pacing of the battlefield series but none have even come close, as well.

MW3 beating BF3 in sales doesn't mean anything as far as proving one game is better than the other. It just means one was hyped more than the other.

I think we can all agree that BF3 will outsell MW3 on PC. I'd say it's pretty much guaranteed. There are so many gaming rigs out there that are just begging to be abused by a new game with awesome graphics. Fortunately, BF3 will be that game. And going by the recommended system specs, I'd say it'll be king of the hill for at least a year or two (in terms of hardware intensiveness).

As for the console market, that's almost entirely CoD territory. Each release of a CoD game builds on the success of the previous one, even if it was developed by a different group of people.

Asia added to beta for those that care, remembering seeing an "aw US only" something to that affect the other day.

Also, it turns out you won't need the MoH disc (for those that bought the limited edition in order to gain early access).

Did anyone get their emails (for those who pre-ordered) about the early access beta? Have not gotten mine yet :(

I didn't get an email yet either.

Glad I am not the only one who didn't get it; I am fearing that the early access is for US customers only :( Since I pre-ordered the digital download PC version from Origin from Canada)

Wait, are those recommended specs only for medium?!? What resolution/FPS is DICE targeting for this? Those specs are insanely high; very badly optimized IMO; (I know PC games never can, neither will it be as optimized as consoles; but even then...) Hopefully at launch they optimize the game more to make it run more smoothly on lower end cards...

I am very worried. Seriously. :( I am waiting for Nvidia's line of Maxwell GPUs, when I am looking to upgrade...

I think only developers know how 'optimized' it is. This games has one of the best PC graphics out there so there's no doubt why it needs so much juice. If anything it's just very CPU/Graphics intensive, doesn't mean you won't be able to play it with anything less than the minimum recommended settings.

For comparision; let's take Crysis 2, where a 6850 (Which I have) once overclocked; runs the game at max settings at a solid 35-40FPS at 720p according to benchmarks; Compare this to battlefield 3 where the graphics are the roughly the same requires something like a single GTX 580 to run it at 720p maxed for it to run smooth, I can only see that Destruction 3.0 would require more CPU power, and the large maps require more RAM, other than that, why is it that Battlefield 3 is so much more demanding GPU wise, the CPU on the other hand is underwhelming for the GPU it requires...

Im not making it up im going off what the DICE employees on twitter are saying.

The Recommended Specs are for Medium Detail only and to run the game in ultra you need SLI 580s, one 580 wont cut it.

Didn't say you where incorrect, argument was my cards are nearly the same as sli 580s in performance..

Can't wait anyway!

Battlefield 3 expansions to have week long exclusivity period on PS3

Tommy Rydling, junior product manager at DICE, has said expansion packs for Battlefield 3 will have a week-long exclusivity period for PS3 when released to the masses.

It starts with Back to Karkland, the pack which is part of the pre-order bonus to gamers who drop down cash early for the game. Those who did not pre-order the game, will have to purchase it when it is released later this year.

Rydling also wanted to remind those who have redeemed a Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or Tier 1 Edition Online Pass will receive early access via email invitation from DICE which allows for 48-hour early access, to the open beta on September 27.

The open beta runs from September 29 through October 10, where players will be able to try out Battlelog, help load test the servers, and run around shooting people on the Operation M?tro a map.

Battlefield 3 hits the US on October 25 and Europe on October 28.
