Bing Metro UI update on the way?

Recommended Posts

Note that this is definitely not finalized UI, they normally test out unfinished UI randomly and the Bing team just so happened to be testing it on one of the school computers. Anyway, so far it looks like the only change is on the top bar, everything else is the same. Also, I didn't get any of the HTML5 effects that have been demoed by MS in the past.

I'm not so sure if I like it. It looks a bit weird, clashing with the rest of the Bing UI. Still, if they're just testing out another UI then it's no problem. I'm assuming your computer substituted a font, because I always thought that Segoe UI and Zegoe UI were the two main fonts of the Metro design language? Maybe I'm wrong in saying that though. It's pretty awesome that your school computers run Chrome though! :o

That's windows xp and the antialiasing is never on for fonts that size (even if you have it enabled). AS IF you guys had never used xp before!

Haven't you tried ClearType on XP before?

There's nothing really metro about that UI. Except maybe the larger 'Web' text.

I imagine a 'Metro' Bing would look more like this:

If that's what it'd look like, that'd be awesome. But I very seriously doubt it. Microsoft has a habit of overdoing their websites, even if they use the Metro idea (and, for the record, the screenshots posted at the top don't look Metro to me, but they do look better than the current version).

Metro is over rated

Saying "Metro is overrated" is overrated.

+1. People seem to be calling every design change that Microsoft makes these days "Metro", despite not looking much like it at all. Seems to have become a buzzword people don't really "get".
