Are tabs on top for Mac ever going to be implemented? I looked at the filed bug and it looks like no one is working on it... :(

For those mockups are they still planning rounded tabs? Those look awful and I saw some images on Stephan's blog where they werent like that.

The tabs in that mockup are ugly as hell. Square tabs please. I don't mind chrome's rounded tabs, but for some reason the ones in that mockup just look horrible.

I think they're too big or too curved. The original Firefox 4 mockups had rounded tabs, but with a much smaller radius, and they were much nicer IMO.

Edit: Firefox already has tabs on top on OS X, tabs in the titlebar however are blocked on technical issues (Making the OpenGL layer extend into the titlebar, which is also required to make the rounded corners nicer, and both require vsync to be enabled)

Prefer rectangular bold outlined tabs as well. The eye is just designed to recognize straight lines better than curvy ones, which is why from the mockup itself, I get a headache.

The update to nightly version 13 broke some extensions. I have the Add-on Compatibility Reporter but it doesn't work for everything. Is there any other way around this?

Try https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/checkcompatibility/

I had a theme installed along with Add-on Compatibility Reporter which didn't work, installed this add-on and everything was fine. May or may not work for you though.

The smooth scrooling added in the latest Nightly builds rocks!!

Can you upload a vid showing it? How does it compare to the SmoothWheel/Yet Another Smooth Scrolling extensions? Also, the new download manager/new tab page is in there, right? Just not the home tab page.

Sorry i did not make the comparison but to me its really snappy :) Why don't you install Aurora build and if you don't like it you can just disable it

I was using latest Nightly only , it might seem a "lil" slow coz of the video recording software...

I have said it because you have recommended to install the Aurora build instead on Nightly. ;)

Slightly offtopic: I've not heard this before - have you got a link about that? (I'm not sure how it makes evolutionary sense)

It looks good. I might have to install either Aurora or Nightly. Where is the link to download Aurora 12, or Nightly 13? I don't see it on https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/ That site never updates as fast as the main Mozilla site. Is the new URL autocomplete in both versions? Thanks!

Can't seem to find the textbook where I've read this before, but I believe this was likely in my physiology class. I will say there are a number of indirect studies similar to this, especially in cases of various eye disorders like macular degeneration, where straight lines become distorted, which tends to highlight the importance of straight line recognition in our daily vision.

If you require a simple experiment, have someone draw random two closed shapes, one with only straight lines and another with curved lines. Then look at the shapes side by side at the same time and see which one you are able to fully recognize faster. Chances are you will be drawn to and be able to make out the full dimensions and attributes of the straight lined shape a couple of milliseconds faster than you will with the curved lined shaped because curved lines require addition processing and perception to define its features.

While you may be right in that curved lines are probably as evolutionarily significant as straights lines for vision, there are indeed differences in our we perceive the two, which can vary between individuals as well.

Worthwhile installing the 64bit versions of nightly, or just stick with 32bit?

Only on Linux or OS X, Windows ones are primarily for developers (To be fair, all Nightly builds are, but the 64bit Windows builds even more so). They're buggy, slower, etc. The main differences is that some things don't work properly, you have less plugins and there's no "* 32" in the task manager.

Anyone know how to get the extension ChromaTabs Plus 3.0.0b1 working with the latest version of TabGroups Manager? It works somewhat, but there's an annoying bug that is a deal breaker. Sometimes when you create new tabs, it won't let you close your old tabs and create new ones. Some kind of conflict there. I hope the creator of TabGroups Manager updates his extension to fix this.

:D

I don't know if its true but it seems like they want firefox to look like chrome clone

Is the majority actually agreeing with these mockups? I think they look terrible, and it may not be a good idea to have unactive "tabs" without borders. Seems to be distracting and harder to read. I hope these are changed, as these are awful. =\

Me : R we rly going 4 curvy tabs ? Dont U think it will jst make us look mre lk chrome ? trunc.it/j9sgz

paulrouget : yes we are.

Me : I know my opinion is of no importance but as a loyal firefox user and beta tester , i think its not right move :|

paulrouget : we need to make Firefox much prettier. We got ton of feedback on Australis, and we're pretty confident it's the right move even if we get some "you're just copying Chrome"
