Norton Disk Doctor - Help!

Recommended Posts

I have Norton Utilities 2002 on Windows XP Pro and when I do a Scandisk with Norton Disk Doctor with the "Fix Errors" thing on and it finds an error, it says that I have to "schedule a scan on reboot" because something else is using the drive and Norton can't fix the problem, only Windows XP. How can I fix this so that Norton can fix the problem instead of XP's scandisk?

Has this happened to any of you?

Reason why it does that is because DD (Disk Doctor) requires 100% full unrestricted access over the hard drive. And since windows already uses the drive, it can't give an unrestricted access to ALL parts of the drives (as some migh be read only or something).

not sure. I once used it but didn't had it long enough to get all the tips and tricks about it. Did you tried to check on symantec's website to see if there was a FAQ page or anything that would act as a Frequently Asked Questions about a specific symantec product ?

don't bother NDD for xp

it's just shell for chkdsk

chkdsk can't repair disk becuase it tries to unmount it.

if you closed all progrms and it still can't unmount it just do chkdsk during bootup.
