Steam Themes

WOW , call me ignorant - coz I thought you could only have the default skin and the other grey that came with it. Didn't know that Steam is now skinnable lol

Thanks for the linky to the Steam skins http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1161035 *browsing now*

Hey... Hey.. HEY LYON!!! You're ignorant!!

/snickers

I can't stand the default skin hey D:

lol I guess I don't play as much as last time anymore (used to play L4D2 every night for hours).. "repented" after seeing that I've wasted 300 hours of my life just for it lol (thanks to the new Steam UI)

For the guy making the Steam theme, consider doing this: http://www.tf2newbs.com/forum/index.php/topic,1019.0.html

I have not verified if it works or if it's been broken by updates, but I find the weird fade-ins and fade-outs that Steam does to be annoying and out of place. I'm currently using the ZeackUI theme, and it's had these fadeins removed. The windows for Steam just pop up and disappear instantly now.

I can't seem to find that in my file, so maybe they moved it somewhere else at one point. I'll do some digging for it.

My favorite two themes so far are Enhanced Steam and Steam Compact

Enhanced Steam by TDD

Steam Compact

I use Enhanced Steam for my PC, and Steam Compact for my laptop (since it has a much lower resolution).

I like the style of Enhanced Steam much better, however Steam Compact has a freaking AWESOME overlay that I wish I could have in Enhanced Steam :(

It's you. Always worked for me :)

I was restoring 140GB of backups and it just crashed repeatedly.

It also decided to download the content rather then restoring it from the back up D:

It was insanely retarded. I think I'll be backing up by way of robocopy from now on O.o

Instead of using that, try this:

Back up your steamapps folder located within your Steam's root folder. If you lose one game, restore the ncf, and the folder within "common" that correspond to the game you're missing, and restart Steam. If you lose everything, simply install Steam, close it, then replace the steamapps folder with the backup one. It should automatically apply patches to all games updated since your backup and save you from redownloading it all.

It is up to the skin makers to update their work; it isn't Valve's fault. Personally, I'd rather have new features in Steam and risk skins being broken. And many of the better skins seem to get updated shortly after anyways. :)

Anyways, this i the skin I use: Apparition 1.3 Final

I really like it's changes to the in-game overlay as well as it's consolidated menu.

Thanks for the find, this is a really great skin. Now my preferred skin of choice.

I still want to see this one made for OS X http://blog.cocoia.com/2010/redesigning-steam-for-mac/, shame there's no high res screenshots but it looks good.

To bad Steam itself does not have an option of turning off the theme and looking like a part of Windows 7. I really don't like themed applications. If you have several different apps that does it's own theme, it looks like crap overall with a mishmash of themes instead of a good looking unified theme.

Impulse manage to do this correct, you can turn off the theme so it looks like a Windows 7 browser.

I know this is resurrecting a somewhat dead thread, but I thought I'd update you guys on my progress.

That refined default theme that I was working on (and may very well still finish), transformed into something far larger. It'd be great if you could all check out the new thread I made here to follow my progress if you're interested.
