Anonymous start hacking.... themselves.

Dear Users of the AnonOps Network,

We regret to inform you today that our network has been compromised by a former IRC-operator and fellow helper named "Ryan". He decided that he didn't like the leaderless command structure that AnonOps Network Admins use. So he organised a coup d'etat, with his "friends" at skidsr.us . Using the networks service bot "Zalgo" he scavenged the IP's and passwords of all the network servers (including the hub) and then systematically aimed denial of service attacks at them (which is why the network has been unstable for the past week). Unfortunately he has control of the domain names AnonOps.ru (and possibly AnonOps.net, we don't know at this stage) so we are unable to continue using them. We however still have control over AnonOps.in, and will continue to publish news there.

We would STRONGLY ADVISE all users to STAY AWAY from AnonOps.net and AnonOps.ru, and they should be considered COMPROMISED. Using or connecting to any service on those addresses may put your computer, and by extension your person, at risk.

We will continue to update you on this story, as well as on how we proceed with the future of Anonops.

We are profoundly sorry for this drama, and we can't give you a an estimate on when service will resume normally.

Alas, the IRC-network will probably remain down until we can sort this out.

We will try to keep you up to date you via our official channel (anonops.in).

Signed,

The "Old" AnonOps netstaff.

"****storm", "Nerdo","owen","blergh", and "Power2All"

P.S: Further notices on AnonOps.net/ru will probably be posted to dispell this one, and any unavailablity of AnonOps.in will only prove this message is true. THIS IS NOT A JOKE, THIS ISN'T A LIE, THIS IS THE TRUTH AND WE ARE SORRY FOR THAT.

P.P.S: The person behind this attack is also involved in the "new" Encyclopedia Dramatica (encyclopediadramatica.ch) . If you have previously signed up as a user with a legitimate email-address/password, you should take caution and consider that your account and password *might* be compromised.

tl;dr:

AnonOps.ru/net got hijacked by a rogue admin, and no longer has anything to do with AnonOps, this domain should NOT be used if you wish to connect to the legitimate AnonOps network. Please use anonops.in instead. Sorry!

An ignorant childish mob usually devolves into fighting among themselves, so no surprises there.

This is so sad, when really Anonymous should be focusing all their efforts into fighting for our freedoms... namely by hacking major companies and encouraging piracy. Those are the really important targets and goals in the fight for freedom. Once Sony and Microsoft and Apple are defeated, and we can pirate all sorts of digital content freely, the world will be a much more peaceful and happy place to live in

Can't they just hack adobe and release the sourcecode for adobe flash player that way we can have a fast open source version of flash for windows and linux and it wouldn't be riddled with security holes, instead they steal credit card numbers :(

This!

But I don't think they steal credit card numbers - as per my knowledge - via the the Internet knowledge sharing sites - via the anonymous sources! lol :p

A small update: Some friends of AnonOps didn't like what had happened, so they... well go and look at http://www.anonops.net

Currently Ryan is "hitting" anything that moves (and even some things that are quite stationary), so their isn't any chance of IRC returning for a good few hours.

irc.anonops.net + irc.anonops.ru seem to be pointing at IRC servers that don't mask IPs, so we suggest you don't connect to them

In keeping with Anonymous' impressive track record of publicly shaming its opponents, the mysterious Ryan may have already been identified.

The British technology website Thinq captured a screenshot of a revenge attack carried out by Anonymous members that lists Ryan Cleary, a British teen thought to be between 17 and 19 years old, as the AnonOps hacker. The screenshot also includes Cleary's physical, email and IP addresses and home and mobile phone numbers.

PSN gets hacked and Anonymous denies it. Suddenly, Anonymous is hacked from within. I'm thinking that like everyone else has thought, that some people within the group were acting alone and I'm guessing this "Ryan" is probably behind the PSN attack. Trying to take down your own collective would only serve to expose yourself. This sort of "cut off the nose to spite the face" behavior is very similar to doing something like taking down to PSN to make Sony look bad.

This and he may have attempted to destroy any evidence. Speculation of course.

Actually, Ryan apparently didn't like the direction and actions Anon was taking ( could have been hacking Sony and hurting the innocents through their hacks ) so he left and is now fighting against Anon. Ryan could very well be the actual good guy in this. Hard to tell, but either way, Anon is a joke and they deserve all the bad karma they get.

Unfortunately if this starts to play out bad for them they may choose to attack Sony once again or someone else. Just to prove they can. Either way the user will suffer.
