It has been a week since the release of the SNES Classic Edition. Although Nintendo made plenty more stock available compared to its previous retro console, the NES Classic Edition, it still managed to sell out its latest console in a matter of hours. While the firm has stated that they will keep producing the console into 2018, those who want one now are left to go through private party sellers or eBay.
As of now, there are close to 7,000 consoles available from the auction site, with most of the units starting at around $130. While there are some exceptions, a majority of them are selling for around $160, with some going a tad higher. This is quite a bit higher than the MSRP of $79.99. As the excess stock of consoles dwindles, prices will undoubtedly rise higher.
Unfortunately, Nintendo has not given word as to when it will restock, but many eager customers are surely waiting, hoping that the shelves will be replenished before the holiday shopping season. As of now, the best bet will be to wait or if you really need the SNES Classic Edition in your life, you can head to eBay.
