Age of Empires Online adding Babylon civ next week

While Microsoft may have recently cancelled further development of Microsoft Flight, the company's other currently running free-to-play PC game Age of Empires Online is about to celebrate its first anniversary. Today, it was revealed that the RTS game from developer Gas Powered Games will be getting a new civilization and a new booster pack next week.

Eurogamer.net reports that the Babylon civilization will be available on August 16th for 900 Empire Points, the in-game currency that was introduced recently in the game. The new civilization will come with its own unit units and structures and is described as being a "very economics focused civ."

Also on August 16th, Age of Empires Online players will be able to purchase the Fertile Crescent booster pack for 450 Empire Points. This pack will add over 30 new quests for players who are at level 20 and above. It will also have repeatable quests that will let players up to level 40 receive even higher rewards.

While Age of Empires Online officially launched a year ago, Microsoft has yet to say how many players have registered to play the game. It is available via both Microsoft's own Games For Windows Live service as well as Valve's Steam service.
